The disclosure relates to an amphiphilic block copolymer comprising a first block consisting of a polymeric hydrophilic domain, wherein the polymeric hydrophilic domain consists of a polyglycerol; an optional second block consisting of a hydrophobic domain and a first linker domain, wherein the second block is covalently bound to the first block via the first linker domain, an optional third block consisting of a catechol domain and a second linker domain, wherein the third block is covalently bound to the first block via the second linker domain; and a fourth block consisting of a crosslinking domain and a third linker domain, wherein the fourth block is covalently bound to the first block via the third linker domain, wherein the crosslinking domain comprises a reactive residue enabling a crosslinking between individual molecules of the amphiphilic block copolymer.

Disclosed is a fluorinated polymer of the formula: RSP, wherein R is a fluorocarbyl group, S is sulfur, and P is: (i) polyglycerol; (ii) poly(allyl glycidyl ether); (iii) a copolymer of glycidol and allyl glycidyl ether, the copolymer having one or more allyl groups; or (iv) poly(allyl glycidyl ether) or copolymer of glycidol and allyl glycidyl ether, wherein one more of the allyl groups have been replaced with a functional group as described herein. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the fluorinated polymer. The fluorinated polymer finds use in improving the hydrophilicity of porous hydrophobic membranes such as PTFE and PVDF.
Surfactant composition comprising ether compound and catalytic process for manufacturing thereof
Disclosed is a process for preparing at least one ether compound, comprising reacting at least one alcohol (I) with at least one polyol (II) in the presence of a functional polymer [polymer (F)] as a catalyst (X), wherein: the alcohol (I) is represented by the general formula (1): R1-OH (1) wherein R1 is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 36 carbon atoms, the polyol (II) is represented by the general formula (2): R2-(OH) m (2) wherein R2 represents the skeleton moiety of the polyol and m is an integer of from 2 to 20, and polymer (F) is a polymer comprising recurring units derived from at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer [monomer (M)] and bearing at least one cation exchange group. Further disclosed is a surfactant composition obtained by said process, and featuring an excellent detergency performance.
Derivatized Hyperbranched Polyglycerols
Herein are provided derivatized hyperbranched polyglycerols (dHPGs). The dHPG comprises a core comprising a hyperbranched polyglycerol derivatized with C.sub.1C.sub.20 alkyl chains and a shell comprising at least one hydrophilic substituent bound to hydroxyl groups of the core, wherein the hyperbranched polyglycerol comprises from about 1 to about 200 moles of the at least one hydrophilic substituent. The dHPGs are for use as agents for the delivery of a drug or other biologically active moiety to the urinary tract, the digestive tract, the airways, the vaginal cavity and cervix and the peritoneal cavity to treat indications such as cancer, which may be useful in the treatment of or the manufacture of a medicament, in the preparation, of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of cancer, as a pre-treatment or co-treatment to improve drug uptake in a tissue. Furthermore, there are provided methods of making dHPGs.
POLYHYDRIC ALCOHOL COMPOSITIONS FOR GAS DEHYDRATION
The present invention relates to a dehydration composition and method of use thereof for drying gas streams, in particular natural gas streams, wherein the dehydration composition comprises one or more polyhydric alcohol. Said polyhydric alcohol preferably has a hydroxyl content equal to or greater than 31 percent and equal to or less than 75 percent of the formula weight of the compound. Said polyhydric alcohol dehydration compositions are particularly suitable for dewatering and desalting gas stream comprising water and one or more salt.
Antimicrobial Metal-Binding Polymers
An antimicrobial composition for the treatment of drug-resistant pathogens is provided. The composition includes antimicrobial compounds and chelating agents assemblies that are particularly effective in inhibiting drug-resistant bacteria and biofilm growth. Optionally, the composition may include an efflux pump inhibitor, further enhancing activity against resistant bacteria. Also provided are methods of treating diseases and surfaces of materials treated with the composition.
Inhibitors of Kidney Stone Formation and Calcium Deposition
A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of pathological calculus and plaque formation is provided. The composition includes conjugates of polymers and metal binding agents that are particularly effective in inhibiting crystal nucleation, growth, and aggregation in the body, such as that observed in the formation of kidney stones. The composition is effective at low dosage, thereby avoiding the side effects typically associated with current treatments for kidney stones. The composition is also effective against plaque formation, and may have intrinsic antimicrobial activity. Also provided are methods of treating diseases and surfaces of devices and materials treated with the composition.
Branched polymeric emulsifiers
The present invention relates to esterified glycerylated alkyl glycoside and to a process for making same. The esterified glycerylated alkyl glycoside have one or more polyglyceryl moieties and one or more acyl moieties, wherein all of the one or more acyl moieties are situated on the one or more polyglyceryl moieties via an ester linkage. These compounds have been found to be useful as emulsifiers and coemulsifiers in the formulation of a phase stable emulsions suitable for use in personal care, home care, industrial and institutional, and health care applications.
