AMINE CATALYSTS FOR POLYURETHANE FOAMS
The invention provides polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and methods for the preparation thereof. More particularly, the invention relates to open-celled, polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and methods for their preparation. The foams are characterized by a fine uniform cell structure and little or no foam collapse. The foams are produced with a polyol premix composition which comprises a combination of a hydrohaloolefin blowing agent, a polyol, a silicone surfactant, and a sterically hindered amine catalyst.

NOVEL HYDROCARBON FOAMS WITH Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-HEXAFLUORO-2-BUTENE
According to one embodiment of the present invention, predominantly closed cell polymer foams are provided which comprise less than 13.5% Z-1336mzz, carbon dioxide and one or more of methyl formate, methylal and trans-dichloroethylene and has a k factor of less than 0.147 BTU-in/hr-ft.sup.2- F. The cellular polymer foam is foamed polyurethane or foamed polyisocyanurate, depending on the identity of the polyisocyanate and active hydrogen-containing compound reactants and their relative amounts. Active hydrogen means that the hydrogen is reactive with the isocyanate of the polyisocyanate reactant. The active hydrogen-containing compound contains at least two groups that contain active hydrogen (atoms) that is reactive with isocyanate. The polyurethane and polyisocyanurate reaction products (foamed) resulting from the process of the present invention are polymers. The reaction product can be a mixture of these polymers.
FOAMING OF STYRENE POLYMER
The present invention is a process for foaming thermoplastic polymer comprising polystyrene said process comprising forming a molten foamable composition comprising said thermoplastic polymer, block copolymer, and blowing agent comprising at least one of Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene and E-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene and expanding said foamable composition to obtain as a result thereof foamed thermoplastic polymer, the process being preferably carried out by extruding the composition in molten form, whereupon the foaming of the thermoplastic polymer occurs.

Compositions comprising HCFC-243db, HCFO-1233xf, and/or HCFC-244db are useful in processes to make HFO-1234yf. Compositions comprising HFO-1234yf are useful, among other uses, as heat transfer compositions for use in refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems.

Storage-stable two-component polyurethane or polyisocyanurate spray foam compositions are disclosed, said compositions comprising: (a) an A-side component comprising one or more polyisocyanate and one or more blowing agent; and (b) a B-side component comprising one or more polyol and one or more blowing agent comprising pressurized gaseous carbon dioxide and one or more liquid blowing agent; wherein both the A-side component and the B-side component, separately, generate less than 300 ppm of fluoride ion after one week of aging at 50? C.
A POLYURETHANE FOAM AND A POLYURETHANE COMPOSITE COMPRISING THE SAME
The present invention relates to an isocyanate reactive component comprising a specific polyol mixture useful for the preparation of homogenous reactive polyurethane compositions. The invention further relates to a reactive polyurethane composition comprising such isocyanate reactive component and an isocyanate component. It also relates to a homogeneous polyurethane foam having good mold release property and surface quality prepared from such reactive polyurethane compositions. In a further aspect, it relates to a polyurethane composite comprising such homogenous polyurethane foam and having good and flat surface appearance after processing.

This invention relates to thermoset, thermal insulating panel, pour-in-place and pour-in-place foams having desirable and unexpectedly low thermal conductivity, and to compositions, method and systems which use and/or are used to make such foams comprising: (a) providing thermosetting foam forming component and a blowing agent for forming predominantly closed cells in the foam, wherein the blowing agent comprises: (i) cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336mzzm(Z)) and cyclopentane, with the HFO-1336mzzm(Z) and cyclopentane in the blowing agent together comprising at least about 50% by weight of the total of all components in the blowing agent and (ii) the weight ratio of HFO-1336mzzm(Z) to cyclopentane in the blowing agent is from about 45:55 to less than 68:32 and (b) forming foam from said provided foamable composition.
