Methods of producing polyolefin foam sheets and articles made thereof

A method of manufacturing a polyolefin foam sheet composition includes extruding a polyolefin sheet, irradiating the extruded sheet to obtain a physically crosslinked sheet, foaming the physically crosslinked sheet with heat to obtain a foamed layer, and skiving the foamed layer to obtain a foam sheet with at least one skived surface. The surface roughness of the skived surface of the foam sheet is different from the surface roughness of an unskived surface.

RESIN COMPOSITIONS

A resin composition, a shaped article, a fiber, a film and a sheet. The resin composition includes two or more kinds of polyolefin resins (A), and 0.05 to 10 mass % of an α-olefin (co)polymer (B) satisfying requirements (b-1) to (b-3): (b-1) A methyl group index is 40 to 60%. The methyl group index is a ratio of an integral of a peak observed in a range of 0.50 to 1.15 ppm to an integral of peaks observed in a range of 0.50 to 2.20 ppm in a .sup.1H-NMR spectrum of a solution of the (co)polymer (B) in deuterated chloroform, positions of the peaks being calculated relative to a solvent peak at 7.24 ppm assigned to CHCl.sub.3 in deuterated chloroform as a reference. (b-2) A weight average molecular weight determined by GPC is 1,500 to 20,000. (b-3) No melting point is observed from −100 to 150° C. in DSC.

Concentrate for polyester-based materials

The invention discloses a concentrate comprising polymethylpentene and titanium dioxide, a process for preparing polyester-based preforms and containers, a use of said concentrate, and a container product. The concentrate of the invention comprises 20-90% polymethylpentene, and 10-80% titanium dioxide, based on the weight of the concentrate.

White goniochromatic packaging article. The package wall containing a composition useful for blocking light in the spectrum ranges from about 200 nm to about 1200 nm. The composition has polyester, polymethylpentene, and a light scattering pigment. The composition optionally includes at least one other colorant. Each of the polymethylpentene and the light scattering pigment comprise about 0.1 to about 0.5 weight percent of the wall. The polyester and polymethylpentene are immiscible and when subjected to orientation stresses the composition produces a goniochromatic packaging article.

The present invention relates to a foam composition for vehicle seat cushions, foam for a vehicle seat cushion, and a manufacturing method therefor, the foam composition comprising: (A) 49.5 wt % to 80 wt % of a polypropylene-based resin; (B) 19.5 wt % to 50 wt % of a modified olefin-based elastomer resin having a melting temperature (Tm) of 60° C. to 110° C. and a melting index (MI) value of 0.5 g/10 min to 4 g/10 min, as measured at 190° C. under a load of 2.16 kg according to ASTM D1238; and 0.1 wt % to 0.5 wt % of (C) a filler.

A polymer composition for producing gel extruded articles is described. The polymer composition contains polyethylene particles combined with a plasticizer and one or more shutdown reducing additives. The shutdown reducing additives decrease the shutdown temperature of polymer articles made from the polymer composition. In one embodiment, the polymer composition is used to form a porous membrane for use of a battery separator.

A polypropylene film exhibits a high breakdown voltage even in a high temperature environment and can exhibit a voltage resistance and reliability even in a high temperature environment when used as a capacitor, and a metal layer laminated film and a film capacitor using the polypropylene film. For the polypropylene film, at least one surface of the film has an elastic modulus of 2.6 GPa or more, measured by nanoindentation measurement, and the sum of heat shrinkage rates is in the film longitudinal and width directions 5% or less in a heat treatment at 130° C. for ten minutes.
