Noise reducing filled polyester
A polyester composition includes, based on the total weight of the polyester composition, a first polyester and a second polyester, wherein a weight ratio of the first polyester to the second polyester is 80:20 to 20:80, preferably 60:40 to 40:60; 5 to 60 weight percent (wt %), preferably 5 to 50 wt % of a reinforcing filler; and 5 to 60 wt %, preferably 10 to 50 wt %, more preferably 20 to 50 wt % of an inorganic filler having a specific gravity of greater than 3 grams per cubic centimeter, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792, wherein a molded article comprising the polyester composition has a sound transmission loss of greater than 30 dB, preferably 35 to 50 dB, more preferably 36 to 45 dB, as determined at 1,250 Hz according to ASTM E1050 using a molded disc with a diameter of 100 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm.
RADIOPAQUE POLYMER FORMULATIONS COMPRISING THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER, TUNGSTEN, AND BARIUM SULFATE
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to radiopaque polymer formulations comprising thermoplastic polymer and a filler. The filler comprises 25 wt % to 45 wt % of tungsten and 35 wt % to 55 wt % of barium sulfate.
RADIATION INDUCED RADICAL CURING BY SEMICONDUCTING NANOPARTICLES
This present invention is directed towards radiation-induced radical curing by semiconducting nanoparticles, to thermoset resins and method of preparation thereof. In particular a pure monomeric suspension is utilized without comprising water.
Lead-free ammunition projectile
A bullet (ammunition projectile) comprising a branched condensation polymer and a filler, wherein the filler is present in an amount from about 10% to 65% by volume of the branched condensation polymer and filler is described. The bullet may be made by heating a mixture comprised of a branched condensation polymer and a filler comprised of a first and second filler having differing densities and differing particle size distribution to form a molten mixture and injecting the molten mixture into a mold to form the ammunition projectile allowing for the tailoring of the characteristics of the bullet for differing applications.
Chemically modified shape memory polymer embolic foams with increased X-ray visualization
An embodiment includes a system comprising: an iodine containing thermoset open-cell shape memory polymer (SMP) foam that is x-ray visible; wherein (a) the SMP foam is configured to expand from a compressed secondary state to an expanded primary state in response to thermal stimulus, (b) the SMP foam is a poly(urethane-urea-amide). Other embodiments are described herein.
