BARRIER ADDITIVES
20180002496 · 2018-01-04 ·

The present invention relates to processes for making compatibilized high aspect ratio barrier additives and polymer compositions that comprise compatibilized high aspect ratio barrier additives. The invention also relates to compositions produced by these processes, and articles formed from polymer compositions of this invention. The barrier additives provide passive barriers to gas molecules such as oxygen and carbon dioxide minimizing transit of such molecules through sidewalls of polymer articles containing the barrier additives.

Nano-cellulose compositions, coatings, and uses thereof

Disclosed herein are embodiments of a composition comprising at least one cellulose material (such as a cellulose nanomaterial) and an optional inorganic salt component. Some embodiments of the composition can further comprise additional components, with some embodiments further comprising a non-starch polysaccharide (e.g., methyl cellulose carboxymethyl cellulose or other cellulose derivative, chitosan, or the like), a surfactant, a plasticizer, an antimicrobial component, or any combination thereof. The disclosed compositions are useful for forming edible coatings/films on plants, plant parts, and other objects. The disclosed compositions and coatings/films made using the compositions are effective at protecting fresh and processed produce and other substances and products, from various different types of food processing damage (and the deleterious effects associated therewith).

MULTICOLOR WOOD-PLASTIC PROFILE, MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR AND WOOD-PLASTIC BOARD
20230235130 · 2023-07-27 ·

A multicolor wood-plastic profile is made of a color master batch and a wood-plastic base material. The ratio λ of the tensile elastic modulus (Et) of said color master batch to that of said base material is 0.26-1.47. A manufacturing method for the multicolor wood-plastic profile includes mixing and melt extruding the color master batch and the base material. A wood-plastic board, including the multicolor wood-plastic profile. The outer surface and the interior of the multicolor wood-plastic profile have two or more colors, presenting a mixed gradual texture similar to natural wood.

USE OF A POROUS FILLER FOR REDUCING THE GAS PERMEABILITY OF AN ELASTOMER COMPOSITION
20230235151 · 2023-07-27 · ·

A porous filler for reducing the gas permeability of an elastomer composition, a process for producing the elastomer composition comprising the porous filler, and the elastomer composition itself. The porous filler is selected from surface-reacted calcium carbonate, precipitated hydromagnesite and mixtures thereof. The addition of the porous filler to the elastomer composition allows for reducing the gas permeability of the elastomer composition while retaining or improving the mechanical properties of the elastomer composition.
