SILICA COMPOSITE PARTICLE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A silica composite particle includes a silica particle and a compound in which a metal atom selected from the group consisting of Ti, Al, Zr, V, and Mg bonds to an organic group through oxygen, the silica particle being surface-treated with the compound. A coverage of a surface of the silica composite particle with the metal atom is 0.01 at % or more and 30 at % or less. When a binding energy peak of O1s in an oxide of the metal atom is assumed to be MO1s, a binding energy peak of O1s in SiO.sub.2 is assumed to be SO1s, and a binding energy peak of O1s in the silica composite particle is assumed to be MSO1s, the binding energy peaks being detected by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the formula 0.000452X.sup.20.059117X+SO1s<MSOs(SO1sMO1s)/100X+SO1s is satisfied.
Exfoliated layer dispersion of layered compound, and transparent substrate using same
A stable dispersion of exfoliated layer substances is prepared through interlayer exfoliation of a layered compound. A dispersion including quaternary ammonium ions (A) each having a total carbon atom number of 15 to 45 and one or two C.sub.10-20 alkyl groups, and an anionic surfactant (B) having an ammonium ion, wherein plate-like particles (C) having an average thickness of 0.7 to 40 nm, an average major-axis length of 100 to 600 nm, an average minor-axis length of 50 to 300 nm, and a ratio of average major-axis length to average minor-axis length of 1.0 to 10.0 are dispersed in a liquid medium, and the plate-like particles (C) in the dispersion have an average particle diameter of 10 to 600 nm as measured by dynamic light scattering, and a transparent substrate using the dispersion.
BITUMEN-AGGREGATE INTERFACE MODIFIERS
A modified bitumen composite includes bitumen, a multiplicity of particles comprising silicate, and a modifier comprising one or more organosilanes, one or more bio-oils, or both, wherein the modifier at least partially coats each particle of the multiplicity of particles. Making the modified bitumen composite includes combining bitumen, the multiplicity of particles comprising silicate, and the modifier to form a mixture, and heating the mixture to yield the modified bitumen composite.
Methods and compositions for treating skin
The present disclosure generally relates to methods and compositions for treating skin. In some embodiments, the method uses an exfoliation tool. In some embodiments, the method uses an exfoliation tool together with selected skin care agents or compositions.
Metal Oxide-Containing Dispersion With High Salt Stability
Aqueous dispersion containing a hydrophilic metal oxide powder comprising a metal oxide and a surface modification of the metal oxide, wherein a) the metal oxide is selected from the group consisting of TiO.sub.2, ZrO.sub.2, SiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2O.sub.3, Fe.sub.2O.sub.3, Fe.sub.3O.sub.4, Sb.sub.2O.sub.3, WO.sub.3, CeO.sub.2 and mixed oxides thereof and b) the surface modification b1) comprises silicon atoms and aluminum atoms and b2) the silicon atoms are at least partly bonded to a hydrocarbon radical via a C atom and b3) the Al/Si molar ratio of the surface modification is 1:2-1:20.
Rubber composition, crosslinked rubber composition and tire
The present invention provides a rubber composition that can offer excellent abrasion resistance when applied to a tire member such as a tread, without deteriorating rolling resistance. To solve the problem, a rubber composition according to the present invention contains a rubber component, hydrous silicate, and a surfactant, in which the hydrous silicate is modified by the surfactant before being kneaded with the rubber component.
MODIFIED SILICA COMPOSITION
A silica composition, including: compound (A) represented by the following general formula (1); and acryl- or methacryl-modified silica particles (B):
##STR00001##
where X.sup. represents a halogen ion or a methyl sulfate ion, R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 each independently represent a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 36 carbon atoms, a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 36 carbon atoms that has any one or more kinds of substituents selected from an ester group, an amide group, and a hydroxyl group, or a polyether group represented by the following general formula (2), provided that at least one of R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 needs to represent a polyether group represented by the following general formula (2):
R.sup.5O.sub.mH (2)
where m represents a number of from 1 to 100 and R.sup.5 represents an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, useful as an additive for a resin composition.
Tailored dispersion and formation of integrated particle systems via pH responsive groups
This invention provides methods and technology related to increased hiding power of a coating through mediating the interaction of the pigment with other system components including but not limited to other pigment particles, latex paint particles, latex binding particles, and organic or inorganic hollow particles. Organization and spacing are tailored via pH sensitive functionalities hosted on ligands or polymeric spacers that are located at/within the surface of one of the components.
