Particles for electrophoretic displays
This invention relates to particles comprising a core particle and a polymeric shell, a process for their preparation, electrophoretic fluids comprising such particles, and electrophoretic display devices comprising such fluids.
Method of suppressing the generation of dust from sand
A composite is characterized by particulates of sand wherein at least a portion of the surface of the particulates is coated with a polycationic polymer. The presence of the polycationic polymer on the surface of the particulates reduces the amount of dust generated during handling and use of the sand. The polycationic polymer further reduces the amount of dust generated during transport of the sand as well during manufacture, treatment or processing of the sand.
Aqueous silica dispersion
The present invention relates to a method of producing a dispersion comprising a) mixing an aqueous dispersion of silanized colloidal silica particles with at least one organic compound containing at least two hydroxyl groups to provide an aqueous dispersion of silanized colloidal silica particles and said at least one organic compound, wherein the mixing is performed in the substantial absence of any monofunctional alcohol b) withdrawing water from the formed aqueous dispersion until the remainder of water in the dispersion is below about 10 wt %. The invention also relates to a dispersion obtainable therefrom and the use of the dispersion.
Dispersing agent comprising fillers or pigments
The present invention relates to ester-coated core particles, thermoplastic polymer composition comprising a thermo-plastic polymer and such coated particles, a method for producing ester coated particles and the use of compositions of the invention as fillers or pigments with improved dispersion properties and pourability.
Filler materials having surface coating made from water soluble polyamides
Fillers are proposed, with the exception of layered silicates, which have a surface coating, which comprises a water-soluble polyamide or multiple water-soluble polyamides, wherein at least one of these water-soluble polyamides is produced by polycondensation from monomer components, which comprise at least one dicarboxylic acid and at least one selected ether diamine, preferably having linear oxypropyl amino end groups. Fillers coated in this manner are suitable for use in the production of filled and/or reinforced thermoplastic plastics molding materials. Thermoplastic plastics molding materials which contain fillers having such a surface coating have good mechanical properties and few emissions (low outgassing).
Methods of using sand composites to control dust
A composite is characterized by particulates of sand wherein at least a portion of the surface of the particulates is coated with a polycationic polymer. The presence of the polycationic polymer on the surface of the particulates reduces the amount of dust generated during handling and use of the sand. The polycationic polymer further reduces the amount of dust generated during transport of the sand as well during manufacture, treatment or processing of the sand.
COMPOSITION COMPRISING INORGANIC PARTICULATE MATERIAL AND AN POLYMERIC DISPERSANT
An anionic polymeric dispersant and a composition comprising inorganic particulate material and an anionic polymeric dispersant. A method of grinding a composition comprising inorganic particulate material and an anionic polymeric dispersant and a use of anionic polymeric dispersant to maintain the viscosity of a composition comprising inorganic particulate material.

Precipitated silica having a BET specific surface area in the range of from 35-700 m.sup.2/g, a CTAB specific surface area in the range of from 30 to 400 m.sup.2/g, and a content of polycarboxylic acid and/or carboxylate groups, expressed as total carbon content, of at least 0.15 wt %
PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF PRECIPITATED SILICAS, PRECIPITATED SILICAS AND THEIR USES, IN PARTICULAR FOR THE REINFORCEMENT OF POLYMERS
A precipitated silica having a CTAB specific surface in the range of from 50 to 300 m.sup.2/g; a BET/CTAB specific surface ratio equal to or greater than 1.3 and comprising at least one polycarboxylic acid.
Silica Treating of Functionalized Resins in Tires
This invention relates to a process for the preparation of a silica-treated functionalized resin composition comprising the steps of reacting a polymer backbone with a hydrosilylation agent to produce a silane-functionalized resin composition, wherein the polymer backbone is selected from at least one of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD)-based polymers, cyclopentadiene (CPD)-based polymers, DCPD-styrene copolymers, C.sub.5 homopolymers and copolymer resins, C.sub.5-styrene copolymer resins, terpene homopolymer or copolymer resins, pinene homopolymer or copolymer resins, C.sub.9 homopolymers and copolymer resins, C.sub.5/C.sub.9 copolymer resins, alpha-methylstyrene homopolymer or copolymer resins, and combinations thereof; and mixing the silane-functionalized resin composition with a silica to produce a silica-treated functionalized resin composition.
