Particles for electrophoretic displays
This invention relates to particles comprising a core particle and a polymeric shell, a process for their preparation, electrophoretic fluids comprising such particles, and electrophoretic display devices comprising such fluids.
Aqueous silica dispersion
The present invention relates to a method of producing a dispersion comprising a) mixing an aqueous dispersion of silanized colloidal silica particles with at least one organic compound containing at least two hydroxyl groups to provide an aqueous dispersion of silanized colloidal silica particles and said at least one organic compound, wherein the mixing is performed in the substantial absence of any monofunctional alcohol b) withdrawing water from the formed aqueous dispersion until the remainder of water in the dispersion is below about 10 wt %. The invention also relates to a dispersion obtainable therefrom and the use of the dispersion.
Modifying the surfaces of metal oxides by means of chain-like structures
Metal oxides surface modified with M and D groups where the D groups are in excess relative to the M groups exhibit high rheology properties in liquid compositions and provide products with elevated mechanical properties. The modified metal oxides contain a significant quantity of unreacted silanol groups, and can be more easily incorporated into polar organic substances, and also increase physical properties of cured polymers containing the modified metal oxides.
Silica Treating of Functionalized Resins in Tires
This invention relates to a process for the preparation of a silica-treated functionalized resin composition comprising the steps of reacting a polymer backbone with a hydrosilylation agent to produce a silane-functionalized resin composition, wherein the polymer backbone is selected from at least one of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD)-based polymers, cyclopentadiene (CPD)-based polymers, DCPD-styrene copolymers, C.sub.5 homopolymers and copolymer resins, C.sub.5-styrene copolymer resins, terpene homopolymer or copolymer resins, pinene homopolymer or copolymer resins, C.sub.9 homopolymers and copolymer resins, C.sub.5/C.sub.9 copolymer resins, alpha-methylstyrene homopolymer or copolymer resins, and combinations thereof; and mixing the silane-functionalized resin composition with a silica to produce a silica-treated functionalized resin composition.
SURFACE MODIFICATION OF SILICA IN HYDROCARBON SOLVENT, MASTERBATCH, AND RUBBER COMPOSITION
A process for producing a stable silica/hydrocarbon solution includes ultrasonically mixing silica and a silane in a hydrocarbon solvent. The solution may be dried to obtain a surface-modified silica. The solution may be mixed with a polymer cement to produce silica-rubber (e.g., silica-SSBR) masterbatch products.
Dispersion liquid, composition, cured film, color filter, optical element, solid-state imaging element, and headlight unit
A dispersion liquid contains modified silica particles that are obtained by reacting silica particles which are surface-treated with a compound A represented by Formula Si(R.sup.A).sub.4-n(X.sup.A).sub.n, which has a reactive group, with a compound B which has a functional group reacting with the reactive group to form a bond and has an organic group, an organic solvent, and water, in which a content of water is 0.1 to 20.0 mass % with respect to a total mass of the modified silica particles. In Formula A, R.sup.A represents a monovalent organic group including the reactive group, X.sup.A represents a hydroxyl group or a monovalent hydrolyzable group, and n represents an integer of 1 to 3.
Treated fumed silica
Disclosed herein are treated fumed silica particles comprising a modified polydialkylsiloxane on the surface thereof, a method for preparing treated fumed silica particles, and a rheological system comprising a polar liquid and treated fumed silica particles. Also disclosed are toner compositions comprising toner particles and treated fumed silica particles comprising a modified polydialkylsiloxane.
SURFACE-MODIFIED PARTICULATE METAL OXIDES
Modified silica having a fraction of at least 15% T1 groups, or a greater fraction of T1 groups as compared to T3 groups, and an extractable content of less than 15 weight percent have a high proportion of surface modifying groups, and exhibit high thickening power in liquid media.
SILICA SOL COMPOSITION HAVING EXCELLENT DISPERSIBILITY IN CYANATE-BASED RESIN AND METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME
Disclosed are a silica sol composition including silica, an anionic dispersant, a cationic dispersant, an epoxy silane coupling agent, and an organic solvent, and a method for preparing the same. In the silica sol composition, a uniform surface modification of silica particles may be achieved by using an anionic dispersant and a cationic dispersant, and it is possible to effectively enhance the compatibility between a silica filler whose surface is modified with an epoxy group and a resin which is an underfill composition.
