A multifunctional broad spectrum antimicrobial composition is described. The composition can be incorporated into a wood preservative, or used as an additive to provide antimicrobial properties to water-based wood coatings. The composition is a concentrated water-miscible emulsion containing 3-iodo-2-propynyl N-butylcarbamate (IPBC), carbendazim (BCM) and propiconazole (PPCZ), and has antimicrobial activity against a wide variety of fungal organisms, including surface molds, blue stain fungi and wood rotting fungi. The composition can act as an in-can preservative and is useful for antimicrobial protection of wood and wood-based substrates.

The invention relates to novel antimicrobial surfactants and their application in antimicrobial coating systems, in particular water borne coatings. Provided is a method for providing an antimicrobial surfactant, comprising the steps of: (a) providing a hyperbranched polyurea having blocked isocyanates at the end of the polymer branches by the polycondensation of AB.sub.2 monomers; (b) introducing tertiary amine groups by reacting said blocked isocyanates of the hyperbranched polyurea with a tertiary amine compound that is functionalized with OH, NH.sub.2, SH, or COO; and (c) quaternization of said tertiary amine groups by reacting with an alkylating agent to obtain a quaternized hyperbranched polymer having antimicrobial surfactant properties.

The present invention provides a polyacrylic acid copolymer emulsion, an organic-inorganic composite waterproof coating, preparation method thereof, and a waterproof coiled material. It can solve the problem that the granules dropping out from the prior waterproof membrane easily. The organic-inorganic composite waterproof coating according to the invention is prepared by compositing organic granules and inorganic granules, wherein the organic coating locks the inorganic granules, and prevents the inorganic granules from dropping out. Some exposed inorganic granules take part in the cement hydration reaction, and increase the bonding strength with the post-poured concrete. Furthermore, the organic-inorganic composite waterproof coating according to the invention does not need a buttering. It can reduce waste without an adhesive-resist insulation film/paper. Experiments prove that the peeling strength between the organic-inorganic composite waterproof coating and the concrete according to the invention is above 2.0 N/mm after being exposed to the sunshine for 8 weeks.

The present invention relates to an anti-bacterial and anti-dust coating for air ducting. In one embodiment, the anti-bacterial and anti-dust coating comprises: a polymer emulsion; a cross linking agent; a film forming agent; a filler and anti-dust agent; an anti-bacterial agent; hardener nanoparticles; a defoamer; and water. The anti-bacterial agent can be in powder or in liquid form. The coating can be applied on the inner surface of metal air ducting to reduce dust aggregation and prevent growth of bacteria, mold and mildew that causes stains and odors inside air ducting. With the aids of nanotechnology, various specific nanoparticles are added in the waterborne polymer emulsion to provide the anti-bacterial, anti-dust, anti-acid, anti-alkali, good flexibility and hardness for the coating. The product is also tested to be flame retardant and water resistance for increased safety in air ducts.
