Building panel coatings

Described herein are panel coating compositions, building panel and a ceiling panel assembly having such coating compositions. The coating compositions are useful in obtaining stable and splotch-free finished paint on large panels.

POLAR FUNCTIONAL NON-AQUEOUS ACRYLIC DISPERSIONS

Described herein is a polar non-aqueous dispersion comprising polar polymeric microparticles in a polar non-aqueous medium, the polar polymeric microparticles being insoluble in the medium and being produced by dispersion polymerization of vinyl monomers such as acrylate monomers in the medium in the presence of a polymeric acrylic stabilizer. Inks, coatings and overprint varnishes are formulated that employ the polar non-aqueous dispersion. Such inks, etc., exhibit superior chemical resistance properties, for example in one-part and two-part systems.

WATERBORNE DAMPING COMPOSITION

A waterborne sound and vibration damping composition including a waterborne emulsion polymer, the polymer having a calculated acid number of from 2 to 100; from 0.1% to 50%, solids based on emulsion polymer solids, of certain liquid compounds having a boiling point greater than 150 C.; and a solid filler at a level of from 25% to 85% PVC; wherein the waterborne damping composition has a water content of from 6% to 25% by weight is provided. A method for providing a coated substrate using the waterborne damping composition and a substrate so coated are also provided.

POLYALKYLENE IMINE BASED POLYMERS HAVING POLYESTER GROUPS

The present invention relates to polyalkylene imine based polymers, which have aliphatic polyester groups attached to the polyalkylenimine backbone via an carboxamide group. The novel polymers are particularly useful as dispersants for pigments, in particular as dispersants for pigments in non-aqueous compositions. The polyalkylene imine based polymers are characterized by having a) a polyalkylene imine backbone; b) at least one aromatic moiety P.1, which is bound to a nitrogen atom of the polyalkylene imine backbone via an carboxamide or carboximide group; and c) at least one aliphatic polyester moiety P.2, which is bound to a nitrogen atom of the polyalkylene imine backbone via an carboxamide group.

Polymeric emulsion containing amphoteric surfactant and its application in architectural primers

A method for forming an acrylic emulsion includes a step of forming pre-emulsion by combining a monomer composition with an amphoteric surfactant in water and then polymerizing the pre-emulsion by combining the pre-emulsion with a radical initiator in a reactor to form a reaction mixture. The monomer composition includes one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid monomers and (meth)acrylic monomers, and combinations thereof. An acrylic emulsion formed by the method is also provided.

METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A HYDROPHILIC COATING OF A FLUOROPOLYMER MATERIAL

A method for the production of a hydrophilic coating of a fluoropolymer material, preferably of a fluoropolymer film, includes the steps of: providing an aqueous dispersion of silicate nanoparticles, applying the silicate dispersion to the fluoropolymer material, and drying the applied coating, wherein a coated fluoropolymer material is obtained which has a contact angle with water of less than 30?. The fluoropolymer material thus coated is extremely weather-resistant and exhibits a long service life.
