SYSTEMS TO REDUCE SKINNING OF COATING COMPOSITIONS
Systems and methods for reducing in-container skinning of a coating composition include an optional float disposed on top of an aqueous coating composition in a can and a hydrophobic evaporation suppressing layer disposed on top of the float layer or the coating composition, the hydrophobic evaporation suppressing layer or monolayer being relatively impermeable to water vapor and having a composition that allows it to spread in a thin layer on the float or the coating composition, thereby reducing in-container evaporation.
TOPICAL ASPHALT REJUVENATOR AND SEALER COMPOSITION
The present application relates to rejuvenation of asphalt structures and more particularly to rejuvenating asphalt pavement by application of a rejuvenating composition so that the reclaimed asphalt properties more closely resemble those of virgin asphalt.
SURFACTANTS FOR INKS, PAINTS, AND ADHESIVES
Inks, paints, adhesives, and paint strippers may be formulated to include one or more surfactants, from one or more surfactant classes, such as derivatives of amino acids that have surface-active properties.
ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY WATERBORNE POLYURETHANE DISPERSION (PUD) MODIFIED ACRYLIC WATERPROOF COATING AND PREPARATION METHOD
A polyurethane-acrylic composition, and particularly, a polyurethane-acrylic composition that is environment friendly and exhibits low heat shrinkage, which is suitable for use as a waterproof coating for a construction structure, especially for a roof. The polyurethane-acrylic composition includes:at least one aqueous acrylic polymer dispersion, preferably in an amount of 17-56 wt %, preferably 20-45 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition; andat least one aqueous polyurethane dispersion, preferably in an amount of 4-30 wt %, preferably 4-10 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition; wherein the composition is free of a coalescing agent.
Two-component polyurethane composition
A two-component polyurethane composition comprising (A) an aqueous dispersion comprising an emulsion polymer and from 2% to 20% of an alcohol alkoxylate of formula (I), by weight based on the weight of the emulsion polymer, and (B) a polyisocyanate; the two-component polyurethane composition can provide coatings with a high distinctness of image.
COATING LIQUID, METHOD FOR PRODUCING COATING LIQUID, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A coating liquid includes emulsion particles containing a binder resin, aerogel particles, and a liquid medium, wherein a content of chloride ions is 50 ppm by mass or less, and a content of sulfate ions is 50 ppm by mass or less.
WATERBORNE POLYVINYLIDENE DIFLUORIDE COATING COMPOSITIONS
A coating composition includes water; a plurality of polyvinylidene difluoride particles; and a surfactant having a hydrophobe branching degree of 5 or greater, wherein the composition is free of a fluorinated surfactant.
Polymeric dispersants from phenyl glycidyl ether
Copolymers comprising recurring units of a phenyl glycidyl ether and alkylene oxides are disclosed. Some of the copolymers comprise a di- or polyfunctional nucleophilic initiator and recurring units of the phenyl glycidyl ether and an alkylene oxide. The di- or polyfunctional nucleophilic initiator is an alcohol, phenol, amine, thiol, thiophenol, sulfinic acid, or deprotonated species thereof. Other copolymers comprise a monofunctional nucleophilic initiator selected from thiols, thiophenols, aralkylated phenols, sulfinic acids, secondary amines, C.sub.10-C.sub.20 terpene alcohols, and deprotonated species thereof. Pigments dispersions comprising the copolymers are also disclosed. The copolymers meet the growing needs of the industry with their ease of manufacture, diverse structures, and desirable performance attributes for dispersing a wide range of organic and inorganic pigments. Agricultural applications for the copolymers are also disclosed.
Burnish and mar resistant resin for clear and pigmented coatings
A method for forming an emulsion polymer includes a step of forming a pre-emulsion by combining a monomer composition with a siloxane-containing composition in water and polymerizing the pre-emulsion by combining the pre-emulsion with a radical initiator in a reactor to form a reaction mixture. Characteristically, the monomer composition includes one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid monomers, (meth)acrylic monomers, styrene monomers, vinyl acetate monomers, vinyl ester monomers, and combinations thereof. A paint composition that includes the emulsion polymer is also provided. This invention describes a method to provide excellent burnish and mar resistance while avoiding problems with film appearance that can result from siloxane addition.
