SUGAR-BASED, ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY SURFACTANTS FOR EMULSION POLYMERIZATION
A composition for an aqueous emulsion polymerization which comprises at least one derivatized alkyl polyglucoside surfactant in a range of 0.01-10%; water, in a range from 20-80% by weight; at least one monomer for emulsion polymerization making up 20-80% of the emulsion polymerization, and at least one initiator in the range of 0.01-5%; with the derivatized alkylpolyglucosides being polyoxyethylene, ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane free.
Use of rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids for increasing coverage and/or for maintaining application properties in the course of storage of coating compositions
Rhamnolipids and/or sophorolibids can be used for increasing coverage and/or for maintaining application properties in the course of storage of coating compositions.
Use of rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids in coating compositions for obtaining a homogeneous colour appearance of the dry coating film and/or for increasing occupational safety in the production of coating compositions
Rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids can be used in coating compositions for improvement of the speed of wetting of pulverulent formulation constituents in such compositions, which leads to a reduction in dust nuisance during incorporation thereof and to the increase in occupational safety in the production of coating compositions. Rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids can also be used in coating compositions for obtaining improved homogeneous colour appearance of the dry paint film with regard to difference in hue, ascertained from the delta E and visual assessment.
Universally Dispersible Solid Pigment Preparation, Preparation and Use Thereof
The present disclosure relates to a solid pigment preparation, including at least one pigment in an aqueous solution including an amine-functional acrylic block copolymer and an amine-functional polymeric dispersant including a polyoxyalkylene moiety, as well as a process for producing the solid pigment preparations and their use in various coloring applications. The solid pigment preparations are particularly universally dispersible in both water- and solvent-based systems. Corresponding dispersions are accordingly also within the scope of the present disclosure.
BUILDING PANEL COATINGS
Described herein are panel coating compositions, building panel and a ceiling panel assembly having such coating compositions. The coating compositions are useful in obtaining stable and splotch-free finished paint on large panels.
SPREADING CATIONIC EMULSION
The present disclosure relates to the field of so-called “spreading” emulsions of hydrocarbon binder, in particular cationic emulsions of hydrocarbon binders. Such emulsions are useful in the preparation of surface dressings, tack coats, fog seal type surface courses and paver seams. The use of an anionic polymer to improve immediate adhesiveness of a cationic emulsion of hydrocarbon binder to solid particles is particularly described.
POLYMERIC ANTIMICROBIAL SURFACTANT
Polycationic polymeric antimicrobial surfactant and polymeric biocompatible antimicrobial surfactant compositions are useful in dispersing various compounds in a carrier liquid. The polycationic polymeric antimicrobial surfactant and polymeric biocompatible antimicrobial surfactant compositions employ polymers having both hydrophilic domains and hydrophobic domains so that the compositions can disperse particles such as polymer particles or droplets in a continuous phase as well as provide stable dispersions that have not been provided before. The antimicrobial properties of the compositions provide much-needed capabilities of fighting infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses in a wide spectrum of products such as paint, adhesives, and coatings. Methods of using these compositions as well as methods of making products using the compositions are disclosed.
POLYMER EMULSIONS CONTAINING A POLYMERIZED SURFACTANT AND METHODS FOR PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF
Surfactants are commonly employed to prepare aqueous polymer emulsions (latex emulsions) used for forming polymer coatings. Migration of surfactants following polymer coating deposition can be problematic, and poor surface adhesion may occur in some cases. Polymer emulsions leading to improved surface adhesion and other advantageous properties may comprise: an aqueous fluid, a plurality of core particles, a polymer layer formed around at least a majority of the plurality of core particles, and one or more surfactants. The polymer layer comprises a polymer formed from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers. The one or more surfactants comprise at least one reactive surfactant having an ethylenic unsaturation that is covalently incorporated within the polymer. The at least one reactive surfactant is absent from the core particles when the polymer layer is formed thereon. The polymer layer is substantially uniform in composition.
RESIN DISPERSION COMPOSITION
An aqueous dispersion composition includes in a stably dispersed state a copolymer comprising an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or an ester thereof as a constituent unit. The composition has a relatively high content of the copolymer and a relatively low viscosity. A production method for the aqueous dispersion composition is also provided. The method is for producing an aqueous dispersion composition of a copolymer comprising an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or an ester thereof as a constituent unit. The method includes the steps of (1) mixing a copolymer comprising an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or an ester thereof as a constituent unit, a basic substance, and water such that the concentration of the copolymer is 40 to 62 mass%, and that the copolymer is neutralized to a degree of neutralization of 10 to 35%, (2) applying a pressure of 0.1 to 2 MPa to the obtained mixture, and (3) further adding water after the pressure application to adjust the concentration of the copolymer to 30 to 60 mass%.
WATER-BASED PAINT COMPOSITION AND HARDENED COATING FILM THEREOF, AND COATED ARTICLE
A water-based paint composition includes a manganese oxide-based catalyst, activated carbon, at least one water-soluble resin selected from a group consisting of acrylic resin, modified acrylic resin, and fluorocarbon resin, a polyacrylate-based dispersant, and a water-based solvent. The water-based paint composition, although including the manganese oxide-based catalyst, allows a coating film to be resistant to chalking and weather.
