To provide a blast furnace slag-type paint using a liquid inorganic material composed of a fluid suspension.

A blast furnace slag-type two-part paint in which a stabilized aqueous suspension containing the following blast furnace slags is contained as the main agent, an alkaline liquid having dissolved therein sodium silicate, sodium carbonate, or potassium carbonate that induces a hydraulic reaction of the suspension serves as the hydraulic reaction inducer, and the main agent and the hydraulic reaction inducer are separately packaged.

<Components of the main agent> (A) 0.5 to 42% by weight of a high-blast-furnace-slag-content blast furnace slag having a blast furnace slag content of 60% or more with respect to the total weight of the blast furnace slag; (B) 0.1 to 20% by weight of a blocking agent containing a phosphorus-containing compound; (C) 0.3 to 5%, preferably 0.3 to 2.5% of a blocking agent differing from a phosphorus-containing compound; (D) water retention agent; others.

Fluorinated ester compound additives for architectural coatings

The present invention is a composition of (a) a coating base selected from a water-dispersed coating, an epoxy polymer coating, an alkyd coating, a Type I urethane coating, or an unsaturated polyester coating; and (b) a fluorinated ester compound having a plurality of fluoroalkyl thioether groups, wherein the number average molecular weight of the fluorinated ester compound is ≤30,000 Da; and where the fluorinated group R.sub.f is independently a straight or branched perfluoroalkyl group of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, which is optionally interrupted by one or more CH.sub.2, CFH, ether oxygens —O—, or combinations thereof. The fluorinated ester compounds provide cleanability to the resulting coating made from the present composition.

Water-based coating composition, and multi-layer coating film

A challenge of the present invention is to provide a water-based coating composition capable of providing a design superior in depth feeling in the formation of a multilayer coating film having a so-called color clear coating film. The present invention relates to a water-based coating composition comprising a coating film-forming resin (i) and a coloring pigment dispersion (ii), wherein the coating film-forming resin (i) comprises: an acrylic resin emulsion (A) having an average particle diameter of 100 nm or less in an amount of 10 to 60% by mass in terms of the resin solid content of the coating film-forming resin (i), a water-soluble acrylic resin (B) in an amount of 5 to 40% by mass in terms of the resin solid content of the coating film-forming resin (i), and a melamine resin (C) in an amount of 20 to 40% by mass in terms of the resin solid content of the coating film-forming resin (i); and the coloring pigment dispersion (ii) comprises a coloring pigment (D) having a 90%-volume particle diameter (D90) of 100 nm or less.

SURFACE MODIFIED KAOLIN PIGMENT AND METHOD THEREOF

Provided herein are surface treated pigments and methods of making and using the surface treated pigments. The surface treated pigments can comprise a mineral pigment surface treated with a hydrophilic latex composition and a hydrophobic material, which produce a film on an outer surface of the pigment. The hydrophobic material can be selected from a silane, a siloxane, or a siloxane/silicone resin blend, wax, fatty acid, styrene-butadiene latex, or a mixture thereof. The hydrophilic latex composition can be selected from a straight (meth)acrylic latex emulsion, a styrene-(meth)acrylic latex emulsion, or a blend thereof. The surface treated pigment has a surface energy that is less than a surface energy of the mineral pigment alone, a water contact angle of at least 90° and a dodecane contact angle of less than 150°.

SILICONE-BASED BARRIER COMPOSITIONS

A liquid applied, silicone-based air and water barrier coating composition and its use as a silicone-based air and water barrier is provided. The barrier is generally vapour permeable and suitable for the construction industry. The liquid coating composition generally has a shelf-life of at least 9 months. The liquid coating composition comprises: (i) a crosslinked polysiloxane dispersion comprising (c) a surfactant and (d) water; (ii) a combination of rheology modifiers and at least one of the following ingredients: (iii) one or more fillers and/or (iv) one or more stabilizers.

PAINT-PROTECTIVE COATING MATERIAL AND ACRYLIC COATING COMPOSITION

Provided is a paint-protective coating material formed from an acrylic coating composition comprising an acrylic polymer as base polymer. The acrylic polymer-forming monomers includes a monomer (m.sub.T) having a homopolymer Tg of 90° C. or higher and a monomer (m.sub.L) having a homopolymer Tg of −30° C. or lower. The monomer (m.sub.T) includes at least acrylonitrile. In the monomers, the monomers (m.sub.T) and (m.sub.L) have a molar ratio (m.sub.T/m.sub.L) of 0.8 or higher and 1.5 or lower. The paint-protective coating material has storage moduli of 150 MPa or higher and 1000 MPa or lower at 23° C., and 0.40 MPa or higher at 70° C.

PHOTOACTIVE PIGMENT CLUSTERS FOR DURABLE COATING APPLICATIONS

A photoactive cluster particle for durable latex paint compositions and said durable paint compositions, the photoactive cluster particle including a binder that coalesces cluster components into a cluster particle. The cluster components of the cluster particle include a photoactive component, one or more silicon-containing particles (may act as the binder), optional discrete polymeric particles each defining a closed void volume therein, optional non-photocatalytic inorganic pigment particles, optional organic latex polymer, and optional extender pigment particles. The photoactive cluster particle further includes an interstitial void network of the cluster particle forming a porosity thereof.

Silane functionalized fibre based coating composition and a process of preparation thereof

The present disclosure envisages a coating composition. The coating composition comprises a polymeric emulsion, silane functionalized fibres and a fluid medium. The silane functionalized fibres are present in an amount in the range of 0.05 wt. % to 10 wt. % of the coating composition. The polymeric emulsion is present in an amount in the range of 20 wt. % to 60 wt. % of the coating composition. The fluid medium is present in an amount in the range of 5 wt. % to 40 wt. % of the coating composition. The silane functionalized fibre comprises at least one polymer bonded to at least one silane group. The coating composition of the present disclosure exhibit improved properties such as better coverage when applied on a surface, mechanical properties, stain resistance properties and the like, when compared to coating composition without fibres.
