WATER-SOLUBLE PAINT OR COATING COMPOSITION HAVING ANTIBACTERIAL, DEODORIZING, AND LASTING ABILITY
The present invention relates to a water-soluble paint or coating composition comprising: a zeolite-based inorganic compound in which one or more metallic ions with excellent antibacterial ability are ionically bonded; a clay mineral with excellent deodorizing ability; and a photocatalyst having lasting ability. The present invention is characterized by comprising: 1-15 wt % of metallic zeolite, which is configured by ionic bonding between metal ions and zeolite; 1-15 wt % of clay mineral; and 1-10 wt % of photocatalyst, and may exhibit, at the same time, an antibacterial effect, a deodorizing effect, and a lasting effect.

The present invention relates to a water-soluble paint or coating composition comprising: a zeolite-based inorganic compound in which one or more metallic ions with excellent antibacterial ability are ionically bonded; a clay mineral with excellent deodorizing ability; and a photocatalyst having lasting ability. The present invention is characterized by comprising: 1-15 wt % of metallic zeolite, which is configured by ionic bonding between metal ions and zeolite; 1-15 wt % of clay mineral; and 1-10 wt % of photocatalyst, and may exhibit, at the same time, an antibacterial effect, a deodorizing effect, and a lasting effect.
DURABLE AQUEOUS COMPOSITIONS FOR USE IN MAKING TRAFFIC MARKINGS HAVING GOOD DIRT PICKUP RESISTANCE AND TRAFFIC MARKINGS MADE THEREWITH
The present invention provides stable, quick drying aqueous compositions useful in making traffic markings having excellent low temperature flexibility which comprise (i) one or more vinyl or acrylic emulsion polymers chosen from single stage and multi-stage emulsion polymers, the polymer or at least one stage thereof having both a calculated glass transition temperature (calculated Tg) of from 25 to 0 C., and a calculated Hansch parameter of 1.4 to 2.25, and (iii) one or more fillers, extenders and/or pigments, wherein the composition has a percent pigment volume concentration (% PVC) of from 50 to 80% and, preferably, a volume solids of from 50 to 75%. The compositions may comprise one or more silanes, and one or more polyamines and a volatile base, such as ammonia.

A formulation for an acoustically transparent coating for use on an acoustical substrate comprising a water dispersible binder and relatively large filler particles, and characterized by a high pigment to volume concentration, high viscosity, high shear thinning, and fast drying to enable the formulation to be sprayed in droplets that retain their identity when in mutual contact and in a dry coating can be efficiently sanded flat.
BRILLIANT PIGMENT-CONTAINING AQUEOUS BASE COAT COATING MATERIAL, AND METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER FILM USING SAME
Provided are a brilliant pigment-containing aqueous base coat coating material with which it is possible to ensure waterproof adhesiveness and impart a metallic gloss, and a method for forming a multilayer film using the same. The invention provides a brilliant pigment-containing aqueous base coat coating material including water-dispersible acrylic polymer particles (A), a water-soluble acrylic resin (B), a curing agent (C), and a brilliant pigment (D) obtained by pulverizing a vapor-deposited metal film to create metal chips. The water-soluble acrylic resin (B) is a copolymer of an N-substituted (meth)acrylamide (i), a hydroxyl group-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer (ii), a carboxyl group-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer (iii), and a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (iv) other than (i)-(iii). The brilliant pigment (D) is contained in a pigment weight concentration (PWC) in the range of 10-40%.
Coating system
A coating formed on a substrate is provided which coating comprises (a) an organic NIR-transparent pigment and/or an inorganic NIR-reflective pigment; (b) a dye having a transmittance of at least 75% in the range of from 700 to 2500 nm; and (c) optionally an effect pigment; wherein said coating exhibits a total solar reflectance (TSR) of (i) 40%, if 60<L*<100, or (ii) 30%, if 30<L*60, or (iii) 20%, if 0<L*30, wherein L* is the lightness. The coating is suitable for an exterior-use coating like an industrial coating or a coating for vehicles, especially an automotive finish, having improved jetness.
POLYMER DISPERSION FOR DURABLE COATING, AND THE COATING COMPRISING THE SAME
The present invention provides a coating composition comprising a polymer binder and from 1% to 40% by dry weight based on total dry weight of the coating composition, titanium dioxide particles, wherein the polymer binder comprises, as polymerized units, by dry weight based on total dry weight of the polymer binder, from 50% to 99%, ethylenically unsaturated nonionic monomers, and from 1% to 5%, a vinyl functionalized benzotriazole.
VAPOR RETARDING BUILDING MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR MAKING THEM
The present disclosure relates generally to vapor retarding building materials and methods for making them. The present inventors have found simple and cost-efficient materials that have low water vapor permeability at low relative humidities and that can be provided as a coating on a building material substrate. Notably, in many embodiments, the materials can have high water vapor permeability at high relative humidities. In one embodiment, the disclosure provides vapor retarding articles comprising a building material substrate; and a polymeric coating layer coated on the building material substrate, the polymeric coating layer comprising an inorganic hydrophilic particulate filler dispersed in a continuous organic phase comprising a hydrophobic polymer, wherein the content of the filler is from about 30% to about 85% by weight of the polymeric coating layer, the vapor retarding article configured to have a water vapor permeance of no more than about 1 Perm at 25% relative humidity.
