The present invention relates to a process for applying a topcoat to at least one side of a substrate, comprising a step (a) of at least partly coating at least one substrate metal surface, at least partly coated with at least one primer coat, with an aqueous coating composition which comprises at least one polymer dissolved or dispersed therein, the coating composition further comprising at least one mixed hydroxide of the general formula (I), and the process being a coil coating process; to a topcoat applied to at least one side of the substrate and obtainable by this process; to a substrate at least partly coated on at least one side with a topcoat by this process; and also to a use of this coating composition for at least partly coating at least one substrate metal surface, at least partly coated with at least one primer coat, with a topcoat in a coil coating process.

SURFACE-TREATED METAL SHEET, COATED MEMBER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COATED MEMBER

Provided are a surface-treated metal sheet excellent in the adhesiveness to a coating treatment film and weldability and a coated member. The surface-treated metal sheet includes a metal sheet and a coating film placed on at least one major surface of the metal sheet; the coating film contains oxide particles, a binder resin, and electrically conductive particles; the amount of electrically conductive particles contained is 5 to 30 mass % relative to the coating film; the oxide particles include non-doped oxide particles and/or doped oxide particles; the non-doped oxide particles include at least one kind selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide particles, tin oxide particles, magnesium oxide particles, calcium oxide particles, and strontium oxide particles; the doped oxide particles include at least one kind selected from the group consisting of doped zinc oxide particles and doped tin oxide particles; the amount of oxide particles contained is 1 to 30 mass %, but is 1 to 10 mass % relative to the coating film in the case of not including doped oxide particles; and the amount of the coating film attached to the major surface is 2 to 20 g/m.sup.2.

OPACIFYING CLUSTERS FOR USE IN PAINT COMPOSITIONS

An opacifying cluster which may be added to a coating composition to provide a coating composition with low gloss and a high level of opacity. The opacifying cluster can include a polymeric latex binder coalescing cluster components into a generally homogeneous particle. The cluster components may include discrete polymeric particles each defining a closed void volume therein, a plurality of inorganic pigment particles, and a plurality of extender pigment particles. The clusters may also include a porosity of the polymeric latex binder thereof defining a binder void volume. Also provided is a paint product including such a pigment cluster.

Coating composition and method of making and using the same

The present application is directed to a method of making an article. The method comprises coating a composition to a surface of a substrate. The coating composition comprises an aqueous continuous liquid phase, a silica nano-particle dispersed in the aqueous continuous liquid phase, and a polymer latex dispersion. The coated substrate is then heated to at least 300 C.

Aqueous-based coating compositions include a drying oil, a fatty acid or alkylamine fatty acid, and alkyl amine, 50-90% water and one or more waxes. When applied to a fabric and cured in air, the compositions form water repellent coatings that are laundry durable. A dye may be included in the coating composition; in such cases a durable water-repellent coating is applied to the fabric and the fabric is dyed in a single curing step.

A water-based resin composition, which enables formation of a membrane with high designability, is provided. Here, (A) indicates a resin component, (A1) an acrylic resin emulsion, (A2) polyester-based resin emulsion, and (B) a black material, which is a composite of (B1) a black pigment having a particle diameter of 2 m or more and 6 m or less and a resin. A composition according to the present invention comprises at least (A) and (B): wherein (A) comprises 90% by mass or more of (A1) and (A2), and a mass ratio of a resin solid content of (A2) with respect to a resin solid content of (A1):1 is 1.8 or more and 4.4 or less; (B) comprises 90% by mass or more of (B1); and a mass ratio of (B) with respect to a resin solid content of (A):1 is 1.3 or more and 4.0 or less.

An adhesion layer-applied substrate containing a substrate and an adhesion layer disposed on the substrate, wherein the adhesion layer contains a polymer particle (A), an inorganic oxide (B) and a light-shielding agent (D), the light-shielding agent (D) contains an ultraviolet absorber, and in elemental analysis by XPS on an adhesion layer surface in the adhesion layer-applied substrate, an M element concentration obtained from a spectrum of a metal (M) derived from the inorganic oxide is 6 atomic % or more.

LOW DENSITY COLORED COMPOSITION AND METHODS OF MAKING

A colored composition including a resin system, and a colorized filler. The colorized filler includes particles including a polymer. The particles have a density less than 2.6 g/cc and an average particle size from 100 microns to 600 microns.
