Ultraviolet (UV) absorbing inks and films
Ultraviolet (UV) absorbing inks and films for surfaces such as glass and/or plastic are provided that include patterns visible to avian eyes, but invisible to a human at least ten feet away. Such invention is aimed at reducing the number of window strikes that result in bird deaths. A formulation may include a binder, a carrier. A formulation may include a base configured to dissolve and solubilize the binder such that it can be applied to the carrier. A formulation may include at least one of an ultraviolet (UV)/visible (VIS) absorbing (UAC) component and a UV/VIS reflective (URC) component.
METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for forming a multilayer coating film which makes it possible to form a multilayer coating film having excellent metallic mottling resistance. The method for forming a multilayer coating film comprises: (1) a step for applying a first aqueous coating material (P1) on an object to be coated to form a first coating film; (2) a step for applying a second aqueous colored coating material (P2) on the first coating film to form a second colored coating film that contains a binder component (A.sub.P2) and lustrous pigment (B.sub.P2); (3) a step for applying a clear-coat coating material (P3) on the second colored coating film to form a clear-coat coating film; and (4) a step for heating a multilayer coating film that includes the first coating film, the second colored coating film, and the clear-coat coating film so as to cure the multilayer coating film all at once. The first aqueous coating material (P1) contains a compound (A) containing a hydroxyl group and an acid group and that has an acid value of from 50 to 150 mg KOH/g, a hydroxyl value of from 100 to 300 mg KOH/g, and a weight-average molecular weight of from 500 to 8000, a film-forming resin (B), and a crosslinking agent (C).
COATING LIQUID, METHOD FOR PRODUCING COATING LIQUID, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A coating liquid includes emulsion particles containing a binder resin, aerogel particles, and a liquid medium, wherein a content of chloride ions is 50 ppm by mass or less, and a content of sulfate ions is 50 ppm by mass or less.
Composite particles for water-based coating compositions
A waterborne coating composition which includes a film-forming binder and composite particles comprising wax and a metal oxide, such as wax encapsulated zinc oxide, provides enhanced mildew resistance.
Lidar reflective material and marking system
Disclosed here are a method of marking a dark-colored surface with a dark-colored LiDAR-reflective material and a marking composition comprising the dark-colored LiDAR-reflective material and a marking carrier. Particularly, the dark-colored LiDAR-reflective material comprises has a reflectivity in the visible spectrum of electromagnetic radiation that is 10% and a reflectivity in the near-IR and LiDAR spectrum of electromagnetic radiation that is 10%.
Reflective and textured finish composition and the methods of making and using the same
A reflective textured finish composition easy to use and with enhanced solar reflectance. Composition includes an acrylic latex/binder, a specific kind of aggregates, a rheology modifier and a surface modifier, as well as a pigment to form a textured composition that provides a solar reflectance equals and/or higher than 25%, a beautiful atheistic appearance, improved scrub resistance and water repellency. The aggregate is preferably a glass, and/or a quartz of the materials that have a minimum of 3% particles possessing sphericity equals to and/or less than 0.5, and/or roundness equals to and/or less than 0.29. The reflective textured metallic finish composition can be used at both exterior and interior walls. It can be also used as a grout for kitchen counter top, floor and/or anywhere for decorative purposes.
Coating formulation for curtain coating fibrous non-woven mats
A coated non-woven fibrous mat is disclosed comprising a non-woven precursor mat including a plurality of randomly oriented fibers bound by a precursor binder composition, The non-woven fibrous precursor mat has a first major surface and a second major surface opposite to and having a surface roughness greater than the first surface, defining a thickness therebetween. A coating composition is applied to the second major surface of the non-woven precursor mat and substantially uniformly penetrates 5% to less than 30% of the thickness of the non-woven precursor mat. The coating composition comprises a mineral filler and an organic latex binder composition. The coating composition is applied to the non-woven precursor mat in an amount between 1.0 and 10.0 lbs/100 ft.sup.2.
