TUNG OIL-BASED NON-LAPPING WATER-COMPATIBLE WOOD STAIN
20210403743 · 2021-12-30 ·

Water-based stains are based on an oil-in-water emulsion having a binder that includes, consists of, or consists essentially of drying oil combined with a non-aqueous polymer dispersion. The compositions can be tinted using traditional water-based pigment dispersions, yet the overall hydrophobicity results in minimal interaction with the polar cellulosic structure of wood.

Emeraldine base composite for corrosion inhibition
11208567 · 2021-12-28 · ·

The present invention relates to an emeraldine base composite, its preparation, and use as an effective anticorrosive pigment additive for corrosion inhibition. The emeraldine base composite comprises an insulating form of polyaniline or its derivatives adhered to an inorganic or organic material substrate such that the emeraldine base covers from about 1-100% surface of the material. Inter alia, the emeraldine base composite can be added to a coating as an anticorrosive pigment additive that inhibits corrosion and as a filler material that increases strength and barrier properties of coating.

COPOLYMERIZED POLYESTER AND WATER DISPERSION

The present invention aims to provide a copolymerized polyester and a resin composition which are excellent in storage stability, water-resistant adhesion, processability, weathering resistance and leveling property. According to the present invention, there is provided a copolymerized polyester containing a polyvalent carboxylic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component as copolymerization components, wherein, when a content of the polyvalent carboxylic acid component is taken as 100% by mole, a content of an alicyclic polyvalent carboxylic acid component is 50% by mole or more, and wherein the copolymerized polyester has an acid value of 170 to 1000 equivalents/10.sup.6 g.

Aqueous functional composition for articles

An aqueous functional composition formulation is used to provide a top layer or pattern in light-blocking opacifying elements. This functional composition formulation has 0.5-15% solids and the essential (i) and (iv) components and any optional (ii), (v), (vi), and (vii) components. The essential components are (i) fumed silica particles at 0.5-10 weight %; and a (iv) water-soluble or water-dispersible organic polymeric binder having a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) below 25° C. The weight ratio of the (i) fumed silica particles to the (iv) water-soluble or water-dispersible organic polymeric binder is 10:1 to 1:5. The optional components include: a (ii) solid or non-solid lubricant; a (v) crosslinking agent; a (vi) thickener; and a (vii) coating aid. Glass particles can also be present. The presence of the (i) fumed silica provides improved brightness, e.g. an L* value of at least 80, and uniform coatings in the opacifying element.

METHOD OF MAKING NANOPARTICLE COLLOID AND NANOPOROUS LAYER
20220183599 · 2022-06-16 ·

This disclosure relates to a glucose-sensing electrode including a nanoporous metal layer and an electrolyte ion-blocking layer formed over the nanoporous metal layer. The nanoporous metal layer is capable of oxidizing both glucose and maltose without an enzyme specific to glucose in the glucose-sensing electrode. The electrolyte ion-blocking layer is configured to inhibit Na.sup.+, K.sup.+, Ca.sup.2+, Cl.sup.−, PO.sub.4.sup.3− and CO.sub.3.sup.2− from diffusing toward the nanoporous metal layer such that there is a substantial discontinuity of a combined concentration of Na.sup.+, K.sup.+, Ca.sup.2+, Cl.sup.−, PO.sub.4.sup.3− and CO.sub.3.sup.2− between over and below the electrolyte ion-blocking layer.

Use of rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids for increasing coverage and/or for maintaining application properties in the course of storage of coating compositions

Rhamnolipids and/or sophorolibids can be used for increasing coverage and/or for maintaining application properties in the course of storage of coating compositions.

Use of rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids in coating compositions for obtaining a homogeneous colour appearance of the dry coating film and/or for increasing occupational safety in the production of coating compositions

Rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids can be used in coating compositions for improvement of the speed of wetting of pulverulent formulation constituents in such compositions, which leads to a reduction in dust nuisance during incorporation thereof and to the increase in occupational safety in the production of coating compositions. Rhamnolipids and/or sophorolipids can also be used in coating compositions for obtaining improved homogeneous colour appearance of the dry paint film with regard to difference in hue, ascertained from the delta E and visual assessment.
