Silica sol containing phenylphosphonic acid and applications thereof
A coating-forming composition for an electrical steel sheet that maintains excellent insulating properties, corrosion resistance, adhesion, and the like required in a coating for an electrical steel sheet, and exhibits excellent viscosity stability, with an increase in viscosity over time being kept gradual. A coating-forming composition for an electrical steel sheet comprises colloidal silica, a phosphate, phenylphosphonic acid or a salt thereof, and an aqueous medium.
NON-CHROMATED CORROSION-RESISTANT COATING
In one aspect, a coating for protecting a component exposed to a corrosive environment includes an epoxy phenolic resin, a non-chromated corrosion inhibitor pigment additive and a dispersing agent. In another aspect, a method of protecting an article exposed to a corrosive environment includes applying a corrosion-resistant epoxy phenolic coating to a surface of the article exposed to a corrosive environment and curing the corrosion-resistant epoxy phenolic coating. The epoxy phenolic coating contains up to 15 percent by volume of a non-chromated corrosion inhibitor pigment additive having a particle size less than 10 micrometers.
Synergistic Corrosion Inhibitor Compositions
The invention comprises synergistic compositions of at least one metal polycarboxylate and lithium phosphate. The synergistic compositions are designed to be added to film-forming or other compositions to reduce the corrosion of various metal surfaces or substrates on which the synergistic compositions are applied.

Hydrogenated tetrazine-based antioxidants and free radical reaction inhibitors and uses thereof
Hydrotetrazine compounds having antioxidant properties and uses thereof are described herein. These compounds may be dihydrotetrazines, tetrahydrotetrazines, or hexahydrotetrazines that can be utilized as antioxidants for use in thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers; free radical inhibitors to stabilize reactive chemicals, such as monomers against free radical polymerizations; and as anticorrosion agents in coatings to protect against metal oxidation. The hydrogenated tetrazines can donate hydrogen atom equivalents to terminate radical chain reactions. These compounds can change colors to signal when oxidation has occurred, and can be further recycled by reduction reactions.
COATING COMPOSITIONS
The present disclosure provides for an aqueous dispersion for use in coating applications. The aqueous dispersion includes an aqueous composition and a solid content of a melt blend product having an acid functionalized polypropylene base polymer, a polypropylene copolymer, an acid functionalized polypropylene wax and an acid functionalized polyolefin. The aqueous dispersion is included in a coating composition, where the coating composition includes the aqueous dispersion, a solvent, a crosslinker and a basic water composition having water and a base. The present disclosure also provides for a coated article having a substrate and a coating on the substrate, where the coating includes the coating composition of the present disclosure.
Chemical conversion-treated steel sheet and method for producing same, and chemical conversion treatment solution
This chemical conversion-treated steel sheet (10) has a chemical conversion treatment coating (12) upon a plating layer (17) of a steel sheet (11). The chemical conversion treatment coating (12) contains a fluororesin, a base resin which is a resin other than a fluororesin, metal flakes (13), and a chemical conversion treatment component. The content of the fluororesin in relation to the total quantity of resins is 3.0 mass % or more in terms of fluorine atoms, the content of the base resin in relation to 100 parts by mass of the fluororesin is 10 parts by mass or more, and the content of metal flakes (13) in the chemical conversion treatment coating (12) is more than 20 mass % but at most 60 mass %.
Corrosion inhibitors and coating compositions containing the same
A corrosion inhibitor can include (a) an inorganic alkali and/or alkaline earth metal compound and (b) an aldehyde and/or ketone component comprising at least one aromatic ring comprising a ketone and/or aldehyde group and at least one pendant group represented by OR.sup.1. Each R.sup.1 is independently selected from hydrogen, an alkyl group, or an aryl group. The coating composition can be used in a multi-layer coating with additional coating layers. Methods of preparing coating compositions with corrosion inhibitors and substrates at least partially coating with such compositions are also included.
ADDITIVE FOR QUALITY DETERMINATION OF CONVERSION COATINGS
A method of applying a trivalent chromium or chromium-free conversion coating to a metallic substrate including mixing a dye compound that interacts with electromagnetic radiation outside the human visual spectrum but not electromagnetic radiation that is within the human visual spectrum to produce an observable emission into the trivalent chromium or chromium-free conversion coating mixture to allow for inspection of the coating after applied with a correlating electromagnetic radiation source.
Corrosion inhibitor composition for magnesium or magnesium alloys
The present invention relates to novel corrosion inhibitor compositions for magnesium or magnesium alloys and to a process for inhibiting the corrosion of such metals using such compositions. The corrosion inhibitor composition for magnesium or magnesium alloys comprises at least one corrosion inhibiting compound which is capable of forming a complex with at least one of Fe(II), Fe(III), Cu(I), Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions, where the complex with at least one of Fe(II), Fe(III), Cu(I), Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions has a stability constant in aqueous solution at room temperature (about 21 C.) log K of greater than or equal to 3.5 wherein the corrosion inhibiting compound is selected from the group of pyridinedicarboxylic acids, and their salts or esters thereof.
