SUBSTRATE COATING COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS

A coating composition comprising: (a) at least one coating agent comprising a perfluoropolyether-modified alkyloxysilane polymer; and (b) a carrier composition comprising monochloro, trifluoropropene, wherein the carrier is present in an amount effective to at least partially solvate or at least partially emulsify the coating agent. Such compositions may optionally contain one or more other co-carriers or additives. Also disclosed are methods of coating substrates, in particular substrates having a hard surface such as ceramics or glass, to render them water, oil and/or dirt repellent.

ARTICLE HAVING WATER- AND OIL-REPELLENT SURFACE LAYER

The present invention provides an article having a water- and oil-repellent surface layer, as well as excellent water- and oil-repellent properties, abrasion resistance, and slipperiness, said article being constituted from: a plastic substrate; an underlayer formed upon the outer surface of the plastic substrate and having a silicon oxide as the main component thereof; and a water- and oil-repellent surface layer formed upon the outer surface of the silicon oxide underlayer. The film density of the silicon oxide underlayer is 1.8-2.2 g/cm.sup.3. The film thickness of the silicon oxide underlayer is 80-300 nm. The water- and oil-repellent surface layer has, as the main component thereof: a fluoropolyether group-containing polymer having a hydrolyzable silyl group with a specific structure; and/or a cured product of a partially hydrolyzed condensate thereof.

The embodiments herein relate to a substrate coated with a multi-layer coating system including: optionally a primer layer applied to the substrate and deposited from a primer coating composition; a tie-coat layer applied to the substrate or to the optional primer layer, deposited from a tie-coat composition including a binder polymer obtainable by copolymerizing a mixture of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, the binder polymer having curable alkoxysilyl functional groups. The substrate can include a topcoat layer applied to the tie-coat layer, and deposited from a non-aqueous liquid foul release coating composition including a curable resin system including i) a curable polymer and optionally ii) a curing agent and/or a catalyst, where the non-aqueous liquid foul release coating composition is essentially free of a curable polysiloxane.

Provided is a method for preparing an alkaline red mud coating for preventing marine organism attachment, including: (1) mixing stearic acid and absolute ethanol by stirring to obtain a mixed solution; (2) mixing the mixed solution and a red mud powder to obtain a mixture, and drying the mixture to obtain a modified hydrophobic red mud powder; (3) adding benzyl glycidyl ether into an epoxy resin and conducting dispersion to be uniform to obtain a mixed system, adding the modified hydrophobic red mud powder into the mixed system, continuing the dispersion to be uniform to obtain a blend, and grinding the blend to obtain an antifouling coating material; and (4) during use, mixing the antifouling coating material with a polyamide curing agent to obtain a mixture system, and applying the mixture system onto a surface of building to form the alkaline red mud coating for preventing marine organism attachment.

which comprises i. applying the coating material composition (K) to wheel rims, ii. 5 to 50 mol % of the isocyanate groups originally present in component (B) having undergone reaction to form silane groups of the formula (I), and iii. the phosphorus-containing catalyst (D) being selected from the group of phosphorus-containing acids and/or the partial esters of phosphorus-containing acids.

The present invention further provides the coatings obtainable by this method and also the use thereof.
