Amphoteric polymer composition
The present invention relates to a composition comprising an amphoteric polymer having pendant acid groups, or salts thereof, and pendant mono- or dialkylamino ethylene oxide groups or alkylammonium ethylene oxide groups characterized by either of the following formulas: ##STR00001##
where R.sup.1-R.sup.3 and X.sup. are as defined herein. The composition of the present invention improves hiding efficiency for coating compositions formulated using associative rheology modifiers, binders, and titanium dioxide.

CURABLE FILM-FORMING COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING HYDROXYL FUNCTIONAL ACRYLIC POLYMERS AND BISUREA COMPOUNDS AND MULTILAYER COMPOSITE COATINGS
A curable film-forming composition is provided, comprising: (a) an acrylic polyol prepared from a monomer mixture comprising a hydroxyl functional monomer, wherein the hydroxyl functional monomer comprises a hydroxyalkyl group with an alkyl chain of at least four carbon atoms; (b) a rheology modifier comprising: (1) a non-aqueous dispersion of an internally crosslinked organic polymer; and (2) a reaction product of an amine and an isocyanate; and (c) a curing agent comprising functional groups that are reactive with hydroxyl functional groups. Also provided are a multi-component composite coating that includes the curable film-forming composition described above and methods for forming a composite coating on a substrate.

A viscosity regulating composition and its method of manufacture. The composition comprises a mixture of (a) a branched polymer having the formula [M]-[(A.sup.1O)-L.sup.1-(A.sup.1O)R.sup.1].sub.n, wherein M is polybranched hydrophobe; A.sup.1O is a polyoxyalkylene unit; L.sup.1 is an aliphatic linking segment or an aromatic linking segment each having at least two hydroxyl reactive linking groups; and R.sup.1 is an aliphatic end unit or aromatic end unit having 6 to 32 carbon atoms; n ranges from 3 to 6; and (b) a polymer having the formula R.sup.2-(A.sup.2O)-L.sup.2-(A.sup.2O)R.sup.2, wherein (A.sup.2O) is a polyoxyalkylene unit, L.sup.2 is a aliphatic linking segment or an aromatic linking segment, and R.sup.2 is a aliphatic unit or an aromatic unit each having 6 to 32 carbon atoms.
