Articles including durable and icephobic and/or biocidal polymeric coatings are disclosed. The polymeric coatings can include a bonding layer which may contain a substantially fully cured polymeric resin providing excellent adhesion to metallic or polymer substrates. The polymeric coating further includes an outer surface layer which is smooth, hydrophobic, biocidal and icephobic and, in addition to a substantially fully cured resin, contains silicone comprising additives near the exposed outer surface. The anisotropic polymeric coatings are particularly suited for strong and lightweight parts required in aerospace, automotive and sporting goods applications. A process for making the articles is disclosed as well.

DARK POWDER DISPERSION LIQUID, DARK POWDER DISPERSION BODY AND COLORED LAYER-ATTACHED BASE MATERIAL

A dark powder dispersion liquid including a dark pigment, composite tungsten oxide particles and a solid medium, wherein a mass ratio of the dark pigment to the composite tungsten oxide particles (mass of dark-colored pigment/mass of composite tungsten oxide fine particles) is 0.01 or more and 5 or less.

PLASMA COATING WITH NANOMATERIAL

The coating may be applied to at least one surface of the article, and wherein the coating may be formed from a monomer and a nanomaterial which have been exposed to a plasma, in which the monomer is at least partially polymerised by the plasma.

Sol-gel coating compositions including corrosion inhibitor-encapsulated layered metal phosphates and related processes

A layered tetravalent metal phosphate composition (e.g., a layered zirconium phosphate composition) and a first corrosion inhibitor (e.g., cerium (III), a vanadate, a molybdate, a tungstate, a manganous, a manganate, a permanganate, an aluminate, a phosphonate, a thiazole, a triazole, and/or an imidazole) is dispersed in an aqueous solution and stirred to form a first solution. A precipitate of the first solution is collected and washed to form a first corrosion inhibiting material (CIM), which includes the first corrosion inhibitor intercalated in the layered tetravalent metal phosphate composition. The first CIM is added to a first sol-gel composition to form a first CIM-containing sol-gel composition. The first CIM-containing sol-gel composition is applied on a substrate to form a CIM-containing sol-gel layer, cured by UV radiation, and thermally cured to form a corrosion-resistant coating. One or more additional sol-gel composition may be applied on the substrate.
