Silica-including microcapsule resin particles including an outer shell constituted of a crosslinked polymer and a cavity partitioned with the outer shell, in which the silica-including microcapsule resin particles contain inside the cavity a porous structure in which silica particles are mutually connected, and have a volume average particle diameter of 0.5 to 100 m.

ELASTOMERIC COATINGS

A polymer nanocomposite coating of an elastomeric film containing at least 30 wt % conductive nanoparticles based on combined weight of elastomer and conductive nanoparticles is provided. The conductive nanoparticles have an average particle size along each dimension of less than 500 nm for nanoparticles having an aspect ratio of less than 20:1 or have an average particle size along each dimension of less than 2000 nm for nanoparticles having an aspect ratio of 20:1 or greater. The conductive nanoparticles are formed into hierarchical micro- and nano-sized aggregates having re-entrant morphology. The coating is both superoleophobic and conductive and retains these properties even when stretched under strain to over 100%. The coatings may be produced with simple spray technology.

A powder coating material includes powder particles and an external additive including inorganic particles having an average primary particle diameter of 1000 nm or less. The ratio of the carbon content (mass %) in the inorganic particles to the average primary particle diameter (nm) of the inorganic particles is 0.1 or more. The powder coating material includes a black colorant or a white colorant or does not include any colorant.

The invention relates to aqueous, cationically stabilized primary dispersions comprising dispersed polymer particles having a Z-average particle diameter of 5 to 500 nm and which are obtainable by emulsion polymerization of at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer (A). The emulsion polymerization takes place in the presence of one or more emulsifiers (E) having the following general formula: R.sup.1N(R.sup.2)(R.sup.3), where R.sup.1 is a moiety with 15 to 40 carbon atoms which contains at least one aromatic group and at least one aliphatic group, and which contains at least one functional group selected from hydroxyl groups, thiol groups, and primary or secondary amino groups, and/or has at least one carbon-carbon multiple bond, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, independently of one another, are the same or different aliphatic moieties containing 1 to 14 carbon atoms. The invention further relates to a method for producing the primary dispersions, and to coating agents which include the primary dispersions, and to the use of the primary dispersions for producing electrodeposition coatings, and also to conductive substrates coated with the coating compositions.

Durable and superhydrophobic over coating

An overcoat that imparts a superhydrophobic surface to a painted surface of an object is a suspension of hydrophobic particles in a polymeric binder and a plasticizer in a solvent or mixed solvent. The particles are a metal oxide that is surface functionalized with a fluorinated alkyl silane or an alkyl silane. Surfaces coated using this paint display contact angles in excess of 150 and resist abrasion while retaining superhydrophobicity.

PRE-TREATMENT COATING COMPOSITIONS

The present disclosure provides pre-treatment compositions and related methods. As such, a pre-treatment coating composition can include an evaporable liquid vehicle and a pre-treatment coating matrix. The pre-treatment coating matrix can include from 5 wt % to 40 wt % multivalent metal salt, and from 5 wt % to 20 wt % polyurethane. The composition can further include from 10 wt % to 50 wt % high Tg latex having a Tg greater than 80 C., from 0.5 wt % to 20 wt % water soluble binder, and from 3 wt % to 20 wt % wax having a melting point greater than 120 C. The weight percentages of the pre-treatment coating matrix exclude the evaporable liquid vehicle content, and the weight ratio of the high Tg latex to polyurethane is from 1:1 to 5:1.

Production method for basic zinc cyanurate powder and production method for rust-preventive pigment composition

A method produces a basic zinc cyanurate powder, the amount of a portion thereof which remains in a sieve having a mesh size of 1,000 m being less than 1 mass %. The method includes heating, at 30 to 300 C., a powder-form mixture which is composed of zinc oxide, cyanuric acid, and water, which has a ratio by mole of zinc oxide to cyanuric acid of 2 to 3, and which has a water content of 9 to 18 mass %, in a closed or unclosed state.

INFRARED REFLECTIVE COATING COMPOSITION

Provided is an infrared-reflective coating composition that includes: a scale-like infrared-reflective pigment; and a resin component, wherein the pigment includes a layered body that has dielectric layers and a metal thin film layer layered in an alternate fashion with the dielectric layer on the outermost layer; the dielectric layer is formed from one or more materials such as titanium dioxide; the metal thin film layer is formed from a silver compound; a film thickness of the metal thin film layer is 5 to 15 nm; a film thickness of the dielectric layer is ((N)/(4r))20 nm (N=1, 2 or 3) wherein wavelength of incident light is 250 to 980 nm, and r is a refractive index of the dielectric layer; and a proportion of the infrared-reflective pigment having a particle diameter of 1 m or smaller is 10% by volume or smaller.
