An object is to provide a resin composition excellent in dry adhesion to both a positive electrode and a negative electrode. Provided is a resin composition to solve the above issue, which contains a vinylidene fluoride copolymer containing: 73.7 mass% or more and 96.9 mass% or less of a constituent unit derived from vinylidene fluoride; 0.1 mass% or more and 1.3 mass% or less of a constituent unit containing a carboxy group; and 3 mass% or more and 25 mass% or less of an other constituent unit which does not contain a carboxy group and is derived from a compound copolymerizable with vinylidene fluoride, with the proviso that a total amount of the constituent units constituting the vinylidene fluoride is taken as 100 mass%. A solution obtained by dissolving 4 g of the vinylidene fluoride copolymer in 1 L of N,N-dimethylformamide has an intrinsic viscosity at 30° C. of 0.5 dL/g or more and 3 dL/g or less.
STABILIZATION OF MELANIN-BASED SUPRAPARTICLES USING POLYMERIC GLUE
In various embodiments, the present invention is directed to a supraparticle for use in producing structural colors comprising a plurality of core/shell nanoparticles having a melanin or synthetic melanin core and a silica shell having a plurality of silanol groups on its outer surface and a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) crosslinker. In various embodiments, the structure of these these crosslinked supra particles is reinforced by hydrogen bonds formed between the silanol groups on the core-shell nanoparticles and mechanical, solution phase, and dry state stability.
PIEZOELECTRIC COMPOSITES HAVING IMMISCIBLE POLYMER MATERIALS AND USE THEREOF IN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Parts made by additive manufacturing are often structural in nature, rather than having functional properties conveyed by a polymer or other component present therein. Printed parts having piezoelectric properties may be formed using compositions comprising a polymer matrix comprising a first polymer material and a second polymer material that are immiscible with each other, and a plurality of piezoelectric particles located in at least a portion of the polymer matrix. The piezoelectric particles may remain substantially non-agglomerated when combined with the polymer matrix. The compositions may define an extrudable material that is a composite having a form factor such as a composite filament, a composite pellet, a composite powder, or a composite paste. Additive manufacturing processes using the compositions may comprise forming a printed part by depositing the compositions layer-by-layer.
Chromate-Free Inorganic Coating Systems for Hot Corrosion Protection of Superalloy Substrate
Hexavalent chromium-free slurry formulations which are suitable in the production of inorganic overlay coating systems are described. The formulations provide superior hot corrosion and high-temperature oxidation protection for superalloy substrates. A basecoat slurry and topcoat slurry are provided. The basecoat slurry includes an aluminum phosphate based aqueous solution having a molar ratio of Al:P higher than about 1:3 with the incorporation of pigments of either metallic particles, or metal oxide particles, or both in combination. The topcoat slurry includes an aluminum phosphate based aqueous solution having a molar ratio of Al:P higher than about 1:3. An inorganic overlay coating formed on substrate made from the slurry formulation of present invention for hot corrosion protection on superalloy substrate against hot corrosion. Furthermore, a multilayer coating comprises a metallic bond coat and an inorganic overlay coating formed on superalloy substrate to further enhance high-temperature oxidation and hot corrosion protection.
Laminated light-blocking decorative articles
Laminated light-blocking decorative articles are prepared by applying an aqueous foamed opacifying composition to a non-woven fabric, drying, laminating a decorative fabric to the resulting dry foamed opacifying layer, and densifying that layer to have a thickness that is at least 20% less than before densifying. This operation can be carried out so that non-woven fabric, decorative fabric, and aqueous foamed opacifying composition are supplied in a single-pass, in-line operation to make any desired quantity of a laminated light-blocking decorative article. The applied aqueous foamed opacifying composition has 35%-70% solids and a foam density of 0.1-0.5 g/cm.sup.3. It is composed of (a) porous particles, (b) a binder material, (c) two or more additives comprising at least one foaming surfactant and at least one foam stabilizer, (d) an aqueous medium, and (e) at least 0.0001 weight % of an opacifying colorant that absorbs electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of 380-800 nm.
ZINC PIGMENT FOR WATERBORNE CORROSION COATINGS
A treated zinc pigment that provides cathodic corrosion protection in aqueous zinc-rich coatings is described. The treated zinc pigment shows reduced gas generation in aqueous formulation.
Roofing Membrane Bond Indicator
A thermochromic indicator and its use for visually determining whether adjacent surfaces of overlapping edge portions of side-by-side roofing membrane segments have been sufficiently heated to a preselected temperature threshold to achieve a desired weld therebetween to correspondingly seal the roofing membrane seam.
Systems and methods for creating durable lubricious surfaces via interfacial modification
Embodiments described herein relate generally to systems and methods for creating durable lubricious surfaces (DLS) via interfacial modification. The DLS can be prepared via a combination of a solid, a liquid, and an additive that modifies the interface between the DLS and a contact liquid, resulting in an interfacial layer that acts as a lubricant and/or protective coating between the DLS and the contact liquid. The lubricating effect created between the additive and the contact liquid results in enhanced slipperiness, as well as the protective properties that can help with durability of the DLS.
Epoxy coating composition with elevated temperature and abrasive environment performace and uses thereof
A two part composition formulation is provided with a composition part A including a phenol novolac epoxy in combination with a bisphenol F epoxy, bisphenol A epoxy, or a combination thereof that define a base resin. A resorcinol diglycidyl ether present is present in part A in a ratio of 1.5-25:1 relative to the base resin. A part A inorganic particulate has x-y-z average linear dimension of between 500 and 6,000 microns. An activator part B includes a curative operative to cure the base resin and the resorcinol diglycidyl ether along with a part B inorganic particulate has x-y-z average linear dimension of between 500 and 6,000 microns.
