FABRIC SUBSTRATES

A fabric substrate is prepared from woven coated yarns. Each coated yarn has a yarn core and a coating disposed coaxially on the yarn core. This coating contains: (i) porous particles in an amount of 4-20 weight %, each porous particle comprising a continuous polymeric phase and discrete pores dispersed within the continuous polymeric phase, a mode particle size of 2-50 m; (ii) a film-forming binder material having a T.sub.g of less than or equal to 25 C., in an amount of 40-90 weight %; and (iii) an inorganic filler material having a value of less than 5 on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness, which inorganic filler material is present in an amount of 4-30 weight %.

COMPOSITION FOR MAKING COATED YARN

An aqueous composition is used to clad yarn cores to provide unique coated yarns. This aqueous composition contains: (i) porous particles present in an amount of at least 2 weight % and up to and including 10 weight %, each porous particle comprising a continuous polymeric phase and discrete pores dispersed within the continuous polymeric phase, the porous particles having a mode particle size of 2-50 m; (ii) a film-forming binder material having a T.sub.g of less than or equal to 25 C., that is present in an amount of 25-60 weight %; (iii) an inorganic filler material having a value of less than 5 on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness, in an amount of at least 2-15 weight %; and (iv) an aqueous medium in an amount of at least 35 weight % in which the film-forming binder material is soluble or dispersible.

YARN WITH COATING OVER YARN CORE

A coated yarn has a yarn core and a coating disposed coaxially on the yarn core. This coating contains: (i) porous particles present in an amount of at least 4 weight % and up to and including 20 weight %, each porous particle comprising a continuous polymeric phase and discrete pores dispersed within the continuous polymeric phase, having a mode particle size of 2-50 m and up to and including 50 m; (ii) a film-forming binder material having a T.sub.g of less than or equal to 25 C., which is present in an amount of 40-90 weight %; and (iii) an inorganic filler material having a value of less than 5 on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness, which inorganic filler material is present in an amount of 4 weight % and up to and including 30 weight %.

COATING FOR ALDEHYDE REMEDIATION AND METHOD OF MAKING

A coating for conversion of formaldehyde to carbon dioxide includes an alcohol/aldehyde oxidase and a formate oxidase immobilized on a solid particulate support; and a latex binder.

According to one of various aspects of the present invention, a slurry for a flexible electrode contains a component (a) dispersed in an aqueous emulsion. The emulsion includes one or more polymer components selected from the group consisting of acrylic polymers, urethane polymers, fluorine polymers, urea polymers, chloroprene polymers, and butadiene polymers. The emulsion has a pH of 6.5 to 8.0. In the slurry, the total of the polymer component(s) and the component (a) is 20 to 30% by mass. Of the total of the polymer component(s) and the component (a) in the slurry, the polymer component(s) is 60 to 85% by mass, and the component (a) is 15 to 40% by mass. Component (a) is carbon black having a DBP absorption amount under uncompressed conditions of 150 to 300 mL/100 g and a BET specific surface area of 35 to 140 m.sup.2/g.

COATING MATERIALS GENERATING STRUCTURED SURFACES

Disclosed are coating material compositions including (i) at least one polyol component (A), (ii) at least one crosslinking agent component (B) having groups reactive toward hydroxyl groups of component (A), (iii) at least one polyamide component (P1) in which the acid amide groups are connected by a saturated, aliphatic hydrocarbyl radical having 6 to 10 carbon atoms. Component (P1) is used in particulate form in which a size distribution (D.sub.50) is 20 to 100 m. The coating material compositions further include (iv) at least one polycarboxamide component (P2) possessing the following structural formula

in which s is 1, 2 or 3, t is 0 or 1, s+t is 2 or 3, R is a specific (s+t)-valent organic radical, and at least one of the radicals R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 carries at least one hydroxyl group. Also disclosed are methods of producing the coating material compositions.

Disclosed are a silica sol composition including silica, an anionic dispersant, a cationic dispersant, an epoxy silane coupling agent, and an organic solvent, and a method for preparing the same. In the silica sol composition, a uniform surface modification of silica particles may be achieved by using an anionic dispersant and a cationic dispersant, and it is possible to effectively enhance the compatibility between a silica filler whose surface is modified with an epoxy group and a resin which is an underfill composition.

MULTILAYERED COATING FILM AND COATED ARTICLE

A multilayer coating film includes a lustrous layer containing a luster material and a colored layer containing a reddish coloring agent, and having translucency. Regarding a Y value of an XYZ colorimetric system calibrated with a standard white plate, when a light incident angle is 45, Y(5) represents a Y value of reflected light measured at a light receiving angle of 5, and Y(15) represents a Y value of reflected light measured at a light receiving angle of 15, the lustrous layer satisfies the following: Y(5) is 30 or more to 700 or less; Y(15)=kY(5) (where k is a coefficient); and k is 0.01 or more to 0.3 or less. The concentration of the reddish coloring agent in the colored layer is 1 mass % or more to 17 mass % or less.
