COMPOSITION COMPRISING A LIGHT-WEIGHT FILLER
The present invention relates to compositions containing at least one reactive binder, at least one curing agent and/or accelerator, at least one thermally activatable blowing agent and at least one light-weight filler, wherein at least one expanded particle of at least one glass-rich volcanic rock with a closed outer shell is contained as a light-weight filler. The invention also relates to a method for stiffening and/or reinforcing components with thin-walled structures with a corresponding composition as well as to correspondingly produced components.
Methods and Formulations for Durable Superhydrophic, Self-Cleaning, and Superhydrophobic Polymer Coatings and Objects Having Coatings Thereon
An object has a durable superhydrophic, self-cleaning, and icephobic coating includes a substrate and a layer disposed on the substrate, the layer resulting from coating with a formulation having an effective amount of hierarchical structuring micro/nanoparticles, liquid silane having one or more groups configured to graft to a hierarchical structuring micro/nanoparticle and at least another group that results in hydrophobicity. The hierarchical structuring micro/nanoparticles are dispersed in the liquid silane. Another effective amount of synthetic adhesive, selected from thermosetting binders, moisture curing adhesives or polymers that form a strong interaction with a surface, is in solution with a solvent. Upon curing, the layer has a contact angle greater than 90 and a sliding angle of less than 10 and, less than 5% of an area of the layer is removed in a Tape test.
Method of providing a protective coating composition for molten aluminum and alkali metal environments
The invention is directed to a method of providing a protective coating composition that protects a refractory wall or lining from chemical attack by molten aluminum and molten alkali metals. The method includes the steps of coating a refractory wall or liner with an aqueous protective composition that includes, by weight of the solids, about 20-90% Al.sub.2O.sub.3 (excluding calcined alumina), about 15-55% SiO.sub.2 and about 1-15% of a metallic non-wetting agent; and evaporating the water before contacting the protective coating with the reactive molten metal.
PHOTOCURABLE RESIN COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECT
In a photocurable resin composition containing a polyfunctional radically polymerizable compound (A), a monofunctional radically polymerizable compound (B), and a curing agent (D), the polyfunctional radically polymerizable compound (A) has an ethylenically unsaturated group equivalent of 700 g/eq or more and 7,000 g/eq or less, and fluororesin particles (C) are added in an amount of 5 parts or more by mass and 30 parts or less by mass based on a total of 100 parts by mass of the polyfunctional radically polymerizable compound (A) and the monofunctional radically polymerizable compound (B).
THERMALLY DEBONDABLE COATING COMPOSITIONS AND STRUCTURES MADE THEREFROM
Curable heat-expanding debondable coating compositions for use as a pre-coating or surface preparation in conjunction with adhesive composition. The debondable coating compositions include heat-expandable microspheres which are designed to expand in a specified temperature range, thereby debonding the coating compositions from a substrate. Adhesive compositions are overlaid on the debonding coating and are subsequently debonded from the substrate along with the debondable coating composition.
Digital thermal binder and powder printing
A method of forming a digital print on a surface by applying powder of dry ink including colourants on the surface, bonding a part of the dry ink powder to the surface by a digital heating print head such that the digital print is formed by the bonded dry ink colourants and removing non-bonded dry ink from the surface.
Acoustically transparent sandable coating
A formulation for an acoustically transparent coating for use on an acoustical substrate comprising a water dispersible binder and relatively large filler particles, and characterized by a high pigment to volume concentration, high viscosity, high shear thinning, and fast drying to enable the formulation to be sprayed in droplets that retain their identity when in mutual contact and in a dry coating can be efficiently sanded flat.
DIGITAL EMBOSSING
A method of forming a digital embossing on a surface by bonding hard press particles to a carrier. A liquid binder pattern is applied on the carrier by a digital drop application head. Hard press particles are applied on the carrier and the binder pattern such that some hard press particles are bonded to the carrier by the liquid pattern and non-bonded press particles are removed. The carrier with the bonded hard press particles is pressed to the surface and an embossing is formed when the carrier with the hard press particles is removed.
Coatings, coating compositions, and methods of delaying ice formation
A coating includes at least one coating layer containing first particles, second particles, and third particles distributed throughout a cross-linked, continuous polymer matrix. An outer surface of the coating layer includes surfaces of at least first particles extending outward from a top periphery of the polymer matrix. The outer surface exhibits a property of delaying ice formation compared to the coating layer without the first particles. A method includes applying a coating composition in one application step. The one-step coating composition contains first particles, second particles, and third particles in a base containing a polymer. A coating composition includes first particles, second particles, and third particles distributed in a matrix precursor.
