MULTILAYER POLYMER COMPOSITES FOR SEALING CONCRETE SURFACES
Systems and methods for sealing concrete are provided. An exemplary multilayer concrete sealant includes a first layer disposed over a concrete surface, wherein the first layer includes an epoxy nanocomposite, and a second layer disposed over the epoxy nanocomposite, wherein the second layer includes a polyurethane microcomposite.
CANDY COLOR PAINT AND REFINISHING METHOD
Candy color metallic paint finishes can be formed or repaired by applying to a substrate a colored liquid base coating composition containing a colored metal oxide-coated nontransparent silver dollar aluminum flake pigment and optional additional colored pigments or dyes dispersed in a first hardenable binder to form a reflective colored base layer that hides the primed substrate and has a sparkling metallic appearance. A colored liquid intermediate coating composition containing a colored pigment or dye dispersed in a second hardenable binder is applied to the base layer to form a colored intermediate layer that increases the color saturation of incident light reflected from the base layer. The intermediate layer can be overcoated with a liquid clearcoat composition. The completed finish can replicate an original equipment manufacturer multilayer candy color metallic finish, while providing ease of application, low sensitivity to layer thickness variation, and low mottle.

The hollow resin particles each having one or two or more hollow portions, wherein a number average particle diameter is from 0.1 m to 9.0 m, a void ratio is from 70% to 99%, and an amount of the volatile organic compound contained is 5% by mass or less.
Water-based coatings for cellulosic substrates
The present invention provides water-based coatings that provide liquid resistance when applied to various substrates. In some embodiments, more than one layer of coatings can be applied, using multiple coating stations. The coatings are particularly suitable for cellulosic substrates such as paper or paper board. In addition to liquid resistance, the coatings have good heat sealability, and are resistant to roll blocking. Preferably, the coatings are recyclable and/or repulpable with the substrates to which they are applied. The coating compositions comprise one or more polymer binders, and one or more particles. Preferably, at least one polymer binder has a glass transition temperature (Tg) less than 10 C. Preferably, at least one polymer binder has a heat seal onset temperature of less than 200 C. Preferably, at least one particle has a mean particle size greater than 4 m. It is also preferable that the particles have a melting point greater than 60 C.
