WHITE INKJET INK COMPOSITION HAVING IMPROVED RESIN COMPATIBILITY
This invention relates to a white inkjet ink composition having improved compatibility of functional polymer-stabilized titanium dioxide with binder resins, resulting in significantly slowing down the sedimentation rate, resisting clogging nozzles upon jetting, and enhancing the lightness of the ink coating. The white inkjet ink composition comprises a white colorant; one or more binder resins; one or more compatibilizers; an ink solvent; and optionally one or more additives. The white colorant is modified with a functional copolymer comprising an acid group, such as such as styrene-maleic anhydride, to form a modified white colorant. The presence of the one or more compatibilizers significantly improve the compatibility of the modified white colorant, such as styrene-maleic anhydride stabilized titanium dioxide, with the one or more binder resins.
Ink jet printing method, primer ink composition, and ink jet ink composition
An ink jet printing method includes applying a primer ink composition containing cationic resin particles and water and an ink jet ink composition containing a dispersible anionic pigment, anionic resin particles, and water onto a printing medium such that a value Z defined by the following equation is in the range of 1.0 to 1.3:
Z={(Pa+Sa)×Di}/(Sc×Dp), wherein Sc represents the solid content of the cationic resin particles in the primer ink composition, represented by percentage to the total mass of the primer ink composition, Pa represents the solid content of the dispersible anionic pigment in the ink jet ink composition, represented by percentage to the total mass of the ink jet ink composition, Sa represents the solid content of the anionic resin particles in the ink jet ink composition, represented by percentage to the total mass of the ink jet ink composition, Dp represents the printing duty of the primer ink composition applied onto the printing medium, represented by percentage, and Di represents the printing duty of the ink jet ink composition applied onto the printing medium, represented by percentage.
Method of preparing laminated article
A flexible inkjet-printed article is prepared by: A′) providing an ink receptive medium having a substrate and an aqueous-based ink-receptive layer. This layer has: (a) a water-soluble salt of a multivalent metal cation; (b) one or both of a polyvinyl alcohol and a polyvinyl amine (or a copolymer derived from a vinyl alcohol and a vinyl amine) at 0.5-30 weight %; and optionally, (c) a crosslinking agent and (d) silica particles. At least one aqueous pigment-based ink is deposited directly on the aqueous-based ink-receptive layer, each having: a) an anionically-stabilized pigment colorant; and b) a water-miscible humectant at 1-20 weight %, each having a carbon to oxygen atom ratio of ≥1.0:1.0 and only two hydroxy groups. After drying, a functional layer with adhesive composition is formed on the inkjet-printed image and a flexible material is laminated to the functional layer, to form a flexible inkjet printed article.
Ink jet recording method
An ink jet recording method according to the present disclosure is a method for recording on a textile including ejecting a white ink composition for ink jet textile printing containing a white pigment and water with an ink jet recording apparatus, wherein the white ink composition is ejected as 9 ng or less of droplets from a nozzle, and the droplets are ejected and recorded on the textile such that a droplet ejected later has a higher flight speed than a droplet ejected earlier and the droplets coalesce before landing on the textile.
