PAINT COMPOSITION

Fire retardant paint compositions comprising polymeric binders derived from vinyl ester monomer, polyphosphate salts, nitrogen containing blowing agents, and charring agents are provided. When applied to substrates the paint compositions form durable coatings useful in protecting the substrates from fire.

Aqueous, polyvinyl alcohol stabilized vinyl acetate-ethylene-copolymer dispersion having high filler compatibility for carpet coating compositions

The invention relates to an aqueous vinyl acetate-ethylene-copolymer dispersion for carpet coating compositions, which is obtained by means of radical-initiated emulsion polymerization, in an aqueous medium, of vinyl acetate and ethylene and optionally additional ethylenically unsaturated comonomers, characterized in that, for stabilization of the dispersion, 5 to 10 wt %, based on the total weight of the comonomers, of one or a plurality of partially saponified and low-molecular polyvinyl alcohols having a hydrolysis degree of 80 to 95 mol % and a Hppler viscosity, in 4% aqueous solution, of 1 to 5 mPas (method according to Hppler at 20 C., DIN 53015) are contained.

Ultra fast oleophobic-hydrophilic switching surfaces

The invention provides a coating which exhibits fast oleophobic-hydrophilic switching behaviour with, for example, equilibration of high oil contact angle (hexadecane=80) and low water contact angle (<10) values which occur within 10 s of droplet impact. These optically transparent surfaces display excellent anti-fogging and self-cleaning properties. The magnitude of oleophobic-hydrophilic switching can be further enhanced by the incorporation of surface roughness and in one embodiment the coating is applied to a surface in the form of a mesh in order to form an effective filter.

10442898 · 2019-10-15 · ·

A process for preparing a waterborne heat seal coating composition comprising the steps of: a) melt blending ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, at least one tackifier, and optionally a surfactant in a mixing and conveying zone to form a melt blend; b) contacting the melt blend with an initial aqueous stream comprising a neutralizing agent, water, and optionally a surfactant in an emulsification zone to form a dispersion; and c) diluting the dispersion with water in a dilution zone to form the waterborne heat seal coating composition wherein the process is a continuous process, is disclosed.

GOLF BALLS HAVING LAYERS MADE OF SILICONE ELASTOMERS

Multi-layered golf balls having at least one layer made of a foamed silicone composition are provided. Multi-layered golf balls having at least one layer made of non-foamed silicone elastomer composition also are provided. For example, three-piece, four-piece, and five-piece golf balls containing different core and cover structures can be made. The foamed silicones have good thermal stability and durability without sacrificing resiliency. The non-foamed silicone elastomers have high elongation, tensile strength, chemical/fluid-resistance, and weatherability properties. These compositions can be used to form any layer, for example, core, intermediate, or cover, in the golf ball.

PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING FLAME RETARDANT, PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF, RESIN COMPOSITION COMPRISING THE PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING FLAME RETARDANT AND ARTICLE MADE THEREFROM
20190300556 · 2019-10-03 ·

A phosphorus-containing flame retardant, a preparation method thereof, a resin composition comprising the phosphorus-containing flame retardant and an article made therefrom are disclosed. The phosphorus-containing flame retardant is characterized by having the advantages of high phosphorus content, high resin compatibility, not increasing gel time of varnish and low water absorption rate, and is therefore suitable for use as a flame retardant of various resin materials.

Pre-treatment coating compositions

The present disclosure provides pre-treatment compositions and related methods. As such, a pre-treatment coating composition can include an evaporable liquid vehicle and a pre-treatment coating matrix. The pre-treatment coating matrix can include from 5 wt % to 40 wt % multivalent metal salt, and from 5 wt % to 20 wt % coalescent latex binder comprising styrene-butadiene rubber, polyurethane, or mixture thereof. The composition can further include from 30 wt % to 80 wt % high Tg latex having a Tg greater than 80 C., from 0.5 wt % to 20 wt % water soluble binder, and from 3 wt % to 20 wt % wax having a melting point greater than 120 C. The weight percentages of the pre-treatment coating matrix exclude the evaporable liquid vehicle content.
