Therapeutic radiation beam detector for radiation treatment systems
A self-shielded and computer controlled system for performing non-invasive stereotactic radiosurgery and precision radiotherapy using a linear accelerator mounted within a two degree-of-freedom radiation shield coupled to a three-degree of freedom patient table is provided. The radiation shield can include an axial shield rotatable about an axial axis and an oblique shield independently rotatable about an oblique axis, thereby providing improved range of trajectories of the therapeutic and diagnostic radiation beams. Such shields can be balanced about their respective axes of rotation and about a common support structure to facilitate ease of movement. Such systems can further include an imaging system to accurately deliver radiation to the treatment target and automatically make corrections needed to maintain the anatomical target at the system isocenter. Various subsystems to automate controlled and coordinated movement of the movable shield components and operation of the treatment related subsystems to optimize performance and ensure safety are also provided.
Enhanced volume viewing
A method for improved 3D imaging of a volume is disclosed. The application discussed is improved assessment of complex 3D structures including breast microcalcifications and incorporation of geo-registered tools. The 3D imaging is displayed on a geo-registered head display unit.
Smart scrolling system
This patent discloses a method and apparatus for improving workflow for a radiologist. Specifically, this patent improves the current manual scrolling such as at a constant rate of 0.2 seconds per image slice by establishing triggering events which cause a precise timing system to exactly determine the appropriate amount of time to spend on each image. For example, viewing of homogeneous regions where there is good contrast between a lesion and background will serve as a triggering event for rapid scrolling. In contrast, viewing of heterogeneous and complex regions or regions where the target is similar in gray scale to the background will serve as a triggering event for slow scrolling.
MANIPULATION OF A RESPIRATORY MODEL VIA ADJUSTMENT OF PARAMETERS ASSOCIATED WITH MODEL IMAGES
A method and apparatus for manipulation of a respiratory model via adjustment of parameters associated with model images is described. The method includes identifying one of more images of a plurality of images that are used with a previously generated model associated with a position and motion of a targeted region of a patient to receive radiation treatment. The method also includes generating, by a processing device, a new model to be associated with the position and motion of the targeted region based on a selection that is associated with one of the one or more images of the plurality of images, wherein the new model is a relationship between a series of internal features and external marker positions. The method further includes delivering radiation to the targeted region based on the new model.
Three-dimensional imaging method and system
Target-oriented three-dimensional imaging method and system are provided. The method comprises: determining, on a scanning object, a portion comprising a scanning target, forming an existing initial three-dimensional structure of the scanning target; scanning the portion comprising the scanning target to form a series of two-dimensional images with spatial location and orientation information; adjusting the initial three-dimensional structure of the scanning target or the local portion of the scanning target; when the initial three-dimensional structure is scanned over, then performing adjustments according to an image obtained and displaying on a display device. The method and system only require some initial three-dimensional information of an imaging target to be able to use two-dimensional imaging to continuously scan a location of a scanning target, adjust an original shape of the target to obtain an actual size, position, and detail of the target, and form a complete three-dimensional image of the target.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMAGE-GUIDED NAVIGATION OF PERCUTANEOUSLY- INSERTED DEVICES
Systems and methods for image-guided medical procedures use fluoroscopic 3D reconstructions to plan and navigate a percutaneously-inserted device such as a biopsy tool from an entry point to a target.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING BLOCKAGES OF EMERGENCY EXISTS IN A BUILDING
Methods and systems for monitoring blockages of emergency escape routes and emergency exits of a building include capturing a plurality of images which may correspond to an emergency escape route and/or an emergency exit of a building. The plurality of images may be analyzed to determine when a stationary object is present and at least partially blocking the emergency escape route and/or the emergency exit. If a blockage is detected, a user may be notified of the blockage.
Method and apparatus for performing 3D imaging examinations of a structure under differing configurations and analyzing morphologic changes
Digital breast tomosynthesis represents an enhanced type of mammogram for detecting breast cancer. In this disclosure, data from digital breast tomosynthesis is reconstructed into a volumetric database with each voxel having a (x, y, z) coordinate and viewed in true 3D using geo-registered head display unit and geo-registered tools for overall enhanced diagnosis. The breast is imaged under various configurations and the internal architecture of an anatomic feature three-dimensionally analyzed.
BIOPSY APPARATUS
An apparatus is provided for assisting breast biopsy. The apparatus includes a biopsy guide, a support system that effects three-dimensional movement of the biopsy guide and a system for registering coordinates of a remote center of motion (RCM) of the biopsy guide with a coordinate system on an image of a breast obtained from a parallel plate radiology imager. The biopsy guide has a mounting plate and a needle gun mount and ultrasound transducer mount on the mounting plate in a common plane. A biopsy needle of a needle gun mounted on the needle gun mount and an image plane of an ultrasound transducer mounted on the ultrasound transducer mount have longitudinal axes in or parallel to the common plane, which intersect at the RCM. The position of the RCM with respect to the biopsy guide is unchanged when the needle gun and/or ultrasound transducer moves on the biopsy guide.
Temporal alignment of and signal-to-noise-ratio enhancment in image streams for multi-channel x-ray imaging
An apparatus (IP) and a method to generate temporally-aligned image frames for image-streams (LS, RS) in a multi-channel (CR, CL) imaging system (100). The apparatus (IP) allows reducing or removing temporal distance artifacts that occur when processing the frames into combined image material. The apparatus can also be used to improve signal-to-noise ratio of the frames. The multi-channel imaging system (100) may be a stereoscopic imager.
