A process for producing a multilayer laminated composite film structure including the steps of: (a) applying a solventless polyurethane adhesive composition to at least a first film substrate; wherein the adhesive composition is applied on at least a portion of at least one side surface of the first film substrate to dispose the adhesive composition on at least a portion of the at least one side surface of the first film substrate; (b) contacting the first film substrate of step (a) with at least a second film substrate; wherein the at least one side surface of the first film substrate containing the adhesive composition is in communication with at least one side surface of the second film substrate such that the polyurethane adhesive composition is disposed in between the first and second film substrates; and (c) curing the adhesive composition to bond the first and second substrates together to form a multilayer laminated composite film structure; and a multilayer laminated composite film structure article produced by the above process.

Fire resistant adhesive compositions and methods of preparing and using the same

Described herein is a fire-resistant adhesive coating composition which emits water vapor when exposed to fire. Such compositions comprise an ionic polyacrylate dispersant, aluminum hydroxide, silicate, and an alkoxylated alcohol. In certain embodiments, the composition comprises a solids content of at least about 44.2%, based on the wet weight of the composition. Also described herein are methods for making and using of such coating compositions.

The present invention refers to a paper article comprising a paper component having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side and/or the second side of the paper component is at least partially coated with a heat-sealable coating, wherein the heat-sealable coating comprises a first polymer comprising units derived from a (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and a second polymer, being different from the first polymer, comprising units derived from a) a (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and b) an alkene, wherein the first polymer and the second polymer are present in the heat-sealable coating in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 35:65, and wherein the first polymer and the second polymer are present in the heat-sealable coating in an overall amount of at least 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of the coating. Furthermore, the present invention refers to a laminate comprising a paper component, a substrate and a heat-seal layer being present between the paper component and the substrate, which is obtained by heat-sealing a paper article according to the present invention to the substrate. The invention also refers to a use of a coating for heat-sealing a paper component to a substrate.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a wet glued wood article, as well as a wet glued article obtainable by said method and also uses of a wet glued article, wherein the method comprises the following steps: a) providing two actively never-dried or slightly dried wood pieces comprising at least one surface each which has a superficial layer having a thickness of least 2-3 wood cells; b) drying said surfaces of said wood pieces so that the moisture content of said superficial layer is below the fibre saturation point, providing a dried surface on each of the said wood pieces; c) applying a gluing agent on said dried surface of one of the wood pieces, thus providing a glue surface; d) bringing the dried surfaces together so that said glue surface touches the dried surface on the other wood piece, thus providing a wet glued wood article.

Disclosed is a one component, liquid, moisture curable polyurethane adhesive composition comprising the reaction products of a mixture including at least one polyol with an excess of one or more polyisocyanates and an acid component. In one embodiment some or all of the acid component is applied separately from the adhesive composition. The adhesive composition has enhanced bond strength to metals such as aluminum compared to currently available adhesives. The composition finds special use in panel lamination applications.

PREPARATION METHOD FOR VENEER MANUFACTURED BOARD

Disclosed herein is a method for efficiently producing formaldehyde-free veneer manufactured boards, comprising steps of: using wood or non-wood veneer as a raw material; controlling the moisture content of the veneer to within an appropriate range; first applying an accelerant and then applying an isocyanate adhesive; then assembling the veneer into a slab according to a certain rule; carrying out microwave preheating on the slab; and feeding the slab into a hot pressing mechanism to obtain aldehyde-free veneer manufactured boards. In the present method, the process for producing aldehyde-free veneer manufactured boards is simple and easy to implement, hot-pressing production efficiency is high, and the mechanical properties of the boards are excellent.

Adhesive bond using different adhesives

A method for adhesively bonding shaped elements made from wood-based materials to flexible film substrates, in which i) the side that is to be bonded is mechanically processed, ii) a reactive one- or two-component polyurethane adhesive is applied to the center regions of this side, iii) an aqueous adhesive based on EVA, PVAc, PVOH is applied at least to the outer region of this side, and iv) this side is bonded to a flexible substrate as an edge coating.

Embodiments of the present disclosure may comprise a system for minimizing damage from lateral forces in shear walls, the system including: at least two precut studs, wherein the precut studs are of dimensions 26 or greater, and wherein the at least two precut studs are affixed to at least one top plate and one bottom plate with fasteners; and sheathing affixed to at least one side of each of the at least two pre-cut studs with fasteners and with a high-elongation adhesive. Aspects may include methods of assembling lateral-force resistant shear walls, including: affixing at least two precut studs, wherein said at least two precut studs are at 26 or greater in dimension, to at least one top plate and one bottom plate with fasteners; and affixing sheathing to at least one side of each of the at least two pre-cut studs with fasteners and with a high-elongation adhesive.

The invention provides a method for preparing a binder precursor, the method comprising the steps of: i) mixing (A) fungi or glucan and (B) starch with an alkaline agent in the presence of an aqueous solvent system to form an alkaline composition; ii) mixing the alkaline composition with an acidic agent to form a mixture; and iii) drying the mixture and forming a powder therefrom, so as to form a powdered binder precursor.

SILANE-TERMINATED POLYMERS

A composition useful as a wood joint material includes at least 20 wt. % of a silane-terminated polymer, the polymer backbone of which is selected from a polycarbonate, a polyester, a copolymer containing a polyester and/or a polycarbonate, and a polymer containing at least one ester group and/or carbonate group. This polymer backbone contains a plurality of diol monomer, at least 60% of which have the formula HOZOH, where Z is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon chain optionally containing one or more heteroatoms selected from oxygen, sulphur and a tertiary nitrogen, wherein Z includes at least one side chain and/or at least one cyclic ring system and/or at least one double bond, and the composition is free from hardening catalysts or residues thereof selected from base catalysts having a pKa value greater than 15, and from by-products formed when a leaving group is split off during silane termination of the polymer.
