The present invention is directed to a liquid sealant composition based on polysulphide, capable of curing on demand, and the process for preparing same, the liquid sealant composition including: (i) a polysulphide comprising an —SH end group, (ii) a crosslinking agent chosen from ethylenically unsaturated or acetylenically unsaturated compounds, the unsaturated ethylenic or unsaturated acetylenic functions of the crosslinking agent being chemically blocked with a blocking agent, and (iii) optionally, a catalyst. The present invention also relates to a process for coating a substrate with a composition according to the invention, and also to the cured sealant materials formed from this composition. Finally, the invention relates to the use of a liquid sealant composition according to the invention for the construction and/or the maintenance, and more particularly for the adhesive bonding and/or the protection, of vehicles and machines.

SEALANT MATERIAL
20170306202 · 2017-10-26 ·

A sealant material for sealing threaded pipe joints that is a multifilament or spun polyphenylene sulfide yarn and a joint sealing composition comprising a silicone oil or a natural oil with a smoke point of about 230° C. or higher. The polyphenylene sulfide yarn is coated with the joint sealant composition. The material forms an effective seal and is resistant even when used in systems in which it is exposed to temperatures in excess of 280° C. The material may be provided in a dispenser.

Sulfur-containing poly(alkenyl) ethers, prepolymers incorporating sulfur-containing poly(alkenyl) ethers, and uses thereof

Sulfur-containing poly(alkenyl) ethers can be incorporated into the backbone of polythioether prepolymers and can be used as curing agents in thiol-terminated polythioether prepolymer compositions. Cured sealants prepared using compositions containing sulfur-containing poly(alkenyl) ether-containing polythioether prepolymers and/or sulfur-containing poly(alkenyl) ether curing agents exhibit improved physical properties suitable for use in aerospace sealant applications.

CURABLE SEALANT COMPOSITIONS, SEAL CAP, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME

Curable sealant compositions comprise the components: a) x weight percent of at least one polythiol; b) y weight percent of at least one unsaturated compound having at least two non-aromatic carbon-carbon double bonds, at least one carbon-carbon triple bond, or a combination thereof; c) from 0.01 to 8 weight percent of at least one quaternary ammonium or phosphonium salt; d) from 0.05 to 10 weight percent of at least one organic peroxide; and e) optionally from 0.01 to 10 weight percent of a photoinitiator system capable of generating free radicals upon exposure to actinic radiation. Each of x and y represents a positive real number. The sum x+y is in the range of 72 to 99. The weight percent ranges of the components a)-e) are based on the total weight of the components a)-e). A seal cap including the curable sealant composition and methods of making and using the curable sealant compositions are also disclosed.
