A novel surfactant composition that comprises of two surfactant components, a solvent, and water. The surfactant composition is added to a fracturing fluid, which is then pumped downhole into a subterranean formation where the novel characteristics of the fracturing fluid lend to improved oil production over the fracturing fluid without the surfactant composition.

Upconverting nanoparticles as tracers for production and well monitoring
A method of fracturing multiple productive zones of a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore is disclosed. The method comprises injecting a fracturing fluid into each of the multiple production zones at a pressure sufficient to enlarge or create fractures in the multiple productive zones, wherein the fracturing fluid comprises an upconverting nanoparticle that has a host material, a dopant, and a surface modification such that the upconverting nanoparticle is soluble or dispersible in water, a hydrocarbon oil, or a combination thereof; recovering a fluid from one or more of the multiple production zones; detecting the upconverting nanoparticle in the recovered fluid by exposing the recovered fluid to an excitation radiation having a monochromatic wavelength; and identifying the zone that produces the recovered fluid or monitoring an amount of water or oil in the produced fluid by measuring an optical property of the upconverting nanoparticle in the recovered fluid.

Producing proppants with nanoparticle proppant coating include coating the proppant particles with a strengthening agent, functionalized nanoparticles, and unfunctionalized organic resin to produce proppant with nanoparticle proppant coating. Additionally, a proppant comprising a proppant particle and a nanoparticle proppant coating is provided. The nanoparticle proppant coating includes a strengthening agent, functionalized nanoparticles, and unfunctionalized organic resin. The nanoparticle proppant coating coats the proppant particle.

Aqueous well treatment composition and method for treating a sandstone formation
Provided is a method for treating a sandstone formation with a well treatment composition. The method may include introducing a pre-flush pill, introducing the well treatment composition, introducing a post-flush fluid, and maintaining the wellbore such that the well treatment composition interacts with the sandstone formation. Further provided is a method that may introduce the well treatment composition as two pills, such as an organic acid pill and an inorganic acid pill. The well treatment composition may include an aqueous solution of an ammonium salt, an inorganic acid, an organic acid, and optionally one or more of a pH adjuster, a mutual solvent, a surfactant, and a corrosion inhibitor.

A water treatment apparatus, system and method including introducing an aqueous fluid into a chamber, the aqueous fluid having a pH below 7 and having an oxidizing agent. Contacting, within the chamber, the aqueous fluid with a corrodible sacrificial material which oxidizes in the presence of the oxidizing agent also reducing the oxidizing agent. Thereafter, adjusting, subsequent contacting the corroding particulate, the pH of the aqueous fluid to above 7.
