A resin composition for sealing an electronic control device, which contains (A) at least one type of thermosetting resin selected from among an unsaturated polyester resin and a vinyl ester resin, (B) a polymerizable unsaturated compound, (C) an inorganic filler, (D) glass fibers, (E) an internal mold release agent, (F) a coupling agent, and (G) a curing agent, and in which, relative to a total of 100 parts by mass of the thermosetting resin (A) and the polymerizable unsaturated compound (B), the content of the inorganic filler (C) is 150 to 700 parts by mass, the content of the glass fibers (D) is 0.1 to 60 parts by mass, and the content of the coupling agent (F) is 1.4 to 20 parts by mass.

An alkyd polymer composition for fast-drying, low VOC applications is provided. The alkyd polymer incorporates a minimum required level of a cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition formed from a sugar alcohol during the alcoholysis step while synthesizing the alkyd polymer. The disclosure also relates to the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition which must have a minimum required level of cyclic ether structure incorporated therein in order to produce a sufficiently fast-drying alkyd polymer. Methods of making the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition and the alkyd polymer comprising, as polymerized units, the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition and a poly acid and/or an anhydride compound, as well as an optional polyol, other than the sugar alcohol, are also provided. Also provided is a 13 C NMR method of characterizing the necessary minimum required level of cyclic ether ring structure in the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition and the alkyd polymer formed therefrom.

The invention provides a polyester film for sealant use. The polyester film contains a polyester resin having ethylene terephthalate as a main structural component and including one or more monomer components that may serve as amorphous components so that the total amount of the monomer components are not less than 12 mol % and not more than 30 mol % among total monomer components. The polyester film is uniaxially or biaxially stretched, and has a particular heat-sealing strength and crystal melting heat capacity. The invention also provides a laminate including as at least one layer of the polyester film for sealant use, as well as a packaging bag that utilizes the laminate.

Disclosed is a sealant film including at least a layer formed of a polyester as a superficial layer, in which the polyester contains 20 to 50 mol % of a 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid unit, 18 to 49.5 mol % of at least one diol unit selected from the group consisting of an ethylene glycol unit, a 1,3-propanediol unit, and a 1,4-butanediol unit, and 0.5 to 2.5 mol % of a diethylene glycol unit, the sealant film has a crystallinity of less than 14%, and the sealant film is a stretched film that exhibits a shrinkage ratio of 6% or more in a maximum shrinkage direction upon being allowed to stand at 125 C. for 20 seconds. This provides a sealant film superior in mechanical properties, especially tensile elongation, and also superior in heat sealability, non-adsorptivity, and gas barrier properties.
