Sealant material

A sealant material for sealing threaded pipe joints that is a multifilament or spun polyphenylene sulfide yarn and a joint sealing composition comprising a silicone oil or a natural oil with a smoke point of about 230 C. or higher. The polyphenylene sulfide yarn is coated with the joint sealant composition. The material forms an effective seal and is resistant even when used in systems in which it is exposed to temperatures in excess of 280 C. The material may be provided in a dispenser.

Curable compositions and related methods

Provided are two-component curable compositions and methods thereof. The composition includes a base component comprised of a curable resin and a first compressible filler dispersed therein. The composition further includes a curative component comprised of a curing agent and a second compressible filler dispersed therein. The base and curative components react with each other upon mixing to provide a crosslinked network. When used with automated metering pumps, the compressibility of the base and curing agent components can be matched, allowing for a constant mix ratio despite variability in applied pressure.

Polysulfide compositions having a polyether synergist are disclosed. Polysulfide compositions that contain polyether synergists exhibit a rapid onset of cure and have acceptable final properties. The polysulfide compositions can be used as sealants.

CHEMICALLY RESISTANT SEALANT COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
20200283663 · 2020-09-10 ·

Chemically resistant sealant compositions include high equivalent weight sulfur-containing prepolymers. Upon exposure to chemicals the properties of sealants prepared using the prepolymers exhibit excellent fuel and phosphate ester resistance.

Dual-curable sealant composition

A dual-curable sealant composition includes a polysulfide having an SH group, a metal oxide catalyst, and an alkylborane amine catalyst. A cured sealant is also formed from the dual-curable sealant composition. Moreover, a dual-cured sealant is formed that includes the polymerization product of the polysulfide reacted in the presence of the metal oxide catalyst and the alkylborane amine catalyst. Further, a dual-curable sealant system includes a first component including the polysulfide and the alkylborane amine catalyst and a second component including the metal oxide catalyst. An article is formed that includes a substrate and the cured sealant disposed on the substrate. Even further, a method of forming the dual-curable sealant composition includes the steps of providing the polysulfide, the alkylborane amine catalyst, and the metal oxide catalyst, and combining the polysulfide, the alkylborane amine catalyst, and the metal oxide catalyst to form the dual-curable composition.
