Recycling process for adsorber regeneration

The invention relates to a process for the regeneration of an adsorber. For the regeneration a liquid stream (S2) comprising at least one alkane is converted from liquid phase into gaseous phase. Then the adsorber is regenerated and heated by contact with gaseous stream (S2) up to 230 to 270 C. Subsequently, the adsorber is cooled first by contact with gaseous stream (S2) to a temperature of 90 to 150 C. followed by cooling with liquid stream (S2) to a temperature below 80 C. The outflow of the adsorber (S2*) during the cooling with gaseous stream (S2) and optionally the outflow of the adsorber (S2*) during cooling with liquid stream (S2) is recycled in at least one of these steps.

The carbonaceous material is at least one selected from the group consisting of activated carbon, carbon nanotubes, and graphene oxide, and the adsorbent has a weight ratio of C to Al in the range from 3:1 to 30:1, and a weight ratio of C to O in the range from 1:1 to 10:1.

The process stream is introduced into a coalescer to form an ionic liquid stream and a first treated process stream which has less ionic liquid than the process stream. The first treated process stream is introduced into a separator to form a second treated process stream. The second treated process stream has less ionic liquid than the first treated process stream. The separator is selected from a filtration zone comprising sand or carbon, an adsorption zone, a scrubbing zone, an electrostatic separation zone, or combinations thereof.

The process stream is introduced into a coalescer to form an ionic liquid stream and a first treated process stream which has less ionic liquid than the process stream. The separator is selected from a filtration zone comprising sand or carbon, an adsorption zone, a scrubbing zone, an electrostatic separation zone, or combinations thereof.
