Disclosed is a catalyst for use in hydrotreating hydrocarbon feedstocks and methods of making the same catalyst. Specifically, a catalyst is disclosed comprises at least one Group VIB metal component, at least one Group VIII metal component, an organic additive resulting in a C-content of the final catalysts of about 1 to about 30 wt % C, and preferably about 1 to about 20 wt % C, and more preferably about 5 to about 15 wt % C and a titanium-containing carrier component, wherein the amount of the titanium component is in the range of about 3 to about 60 wt %, expressed as an oxide (TiO.sub.2) and based on the total weight of the catalyst. The titanium-containing carrier is formed by co-extruding or precipitating a titanium source with a AI.sub.2O.sub.3 precursor to form a porous support material primarily comprising AI.sub.2O.sub.3 or by impregnating a titanium source onto a porous support material primarily comprising AI.sub.2O.sub.3. Special preference is given to alumina and alumina containing up to and no more than 1 wt % of silica, preferably no more than 0.5 wt % based on the total weight of the support (dry base).

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a method of producing an encapsulated hydroprocessing catalyst comprising: preparing a hydroprocessing catalyst comprising a porous support and at least one metal supported on the porous support, the porous support comprising alumina, silica, titania, or combinations thereof, and the at least one metal selected from IUPAC Groups 6, 9 and 10 metals; applying a catalyst activation precursor comprising a sulfur containing compound, a catalyst deactivation precursor comprising a nitrogen containing compound, or both onto pores of the hydroprocessing catalyst to form a loaded hydroprocessing catalyst; and coating the loaded hydroprocessing catalyst with a coating material to produce the encapsulated hydroprocessing catalyst, wherein the coating material comprises a polymer or a paraffinic oil.
TWO-STAGE HYDROCRACKING PROCESS COMPRISING A HYDROGENATION STAGE UPSTREAM OF THE SECOND HYDROCRACKING STAGE, FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MIDDLE DISTILLATES
The present invention is based on the use of a two-step hydrocracking process comprising a step of hydrogenation placed upstream of the second hydrocracking step, the hydrogenation step treating the unconverted liquid fraction separated in the distillation step in the presence of a specific hydrogenation catalyst. Furthermore, the hydrogenation step and second hydrocracking step are carried out under specific operating conditions and in particular under very specific temperature conditions.
PROCESS AND A SYSTEM FOR PRODUCTION OF MULTIPLE GRADE DE-AROMATIZED SOLVENTS FROM HYDROCARBON STREAMS
A process and a system are used for production of multiple grades of ultralow aromatic solvents/chemicals having preferred boiling range, flash point and viscosity from different hydrocarbon streams. A plurality of hydrotreating steps are used to hydrotreat a plurality of hydrocarbon feedstocks in the presence of a hydrogen gas stream and a catalyst system. Further, at least one dissolved gas stripping step, at least one adsorption step, and a distillation step are included in the process. Desired iso-paraffin molecules are thereby preserved, and the undesired aromatic molecules are converted into desired naphthene molecules.
