Hydrocarbon fluids and uses thereof

A hydrocarbon fluid is disclosed that has a pour point of at most −30° C., as measured by ASTM D5950, and that comprises at least 99 wt % of naphthenes and paraffins, based on the total weight of the hydrocarbon fluid, wherein the weight ratio of naphthenes to paraffins is at least 1, as measured by GC-MS, and wherein the paraffins consist essentially of isoparaffins, as determined by GC-FID. In addition, preferred uses of said hydrocarbon fluid are disclosed.

A CROSSLINKED POLYMER FOR DEWAXING - PREPARATION AND IMPLEMENTATIONS THEREOF

The present disclosure discloses a crosslinked polymer for dewaxing the lubricating oils, the polymer derived from (a) 70-77 weight percentage of at least one alkyl acrylate; (b) 23-28 weight percentage of at least one vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon; (c) 0.1-2.5 weight percentage of at least one crosslinker; and (d) 0.75-2.5 weight percentage of at least one initiator and wherein the polymer has a number average molecular weight in the range of 5000-15000. The present disclosure discloses a convenient process for preparing the crosslinked polymer. The present disclosure further reveals a method for dewaxing the lubricating oil.

Dewaxed diesel fuel composition

Diesel fuel compositions are provided that have unexpectedly beneficial cold flow properties. Methods for forming such diesel fuel compositions are also provided. The improved cold flow properties are achieved in part based on dewaxing of a distillate fraction of the composition. The improved cold flow properties are achieved further in part based on inclusion of a cold flow additive and fatty acid alkyl ester in the composition, such as fatty acid methyl ester.

A multi-stage process for reducing the environmental contaminants in an ISO8217 Table 2 compliant Feedstock Heavy Marine Fuel Oil involving a core desulfurizing process and a Detrimental Solids Removal Unit as a pre-treating step or post-treating step to the core process. The product of the process is a Product Heavy Marine Fuel Oil compliant with ISO 8217 Table 2 for residual marine fuel including a maximum sulfur content (ISO 14596 or ISO 8754) less than 0.5 wt % and a Detrimental Solids content less than 60 mg/kg. A device for conducting the process and producing the product is disclosed.

Disclosed is a hydrocarbon composition containing isomerised paraffins having specific cut-off points in a distillation curve, a density from 768.0 to 772.0 and an average carbon number of 14.3 to 15.1. The hydrocarbon composition can be used as a fuel or fuel component, especially a jet fuel. Disclosed is also a method to produce a hydrocarbon composition. The isomerised paraffins in the hydrocarbon composition can be from a renewable source.

PROCESS FOR PREPARING A BASE OIL HAVING A REDUCED CLOUD POINT

A process for preparing a base oil fraction having a reduced cloud point from a hydrocarbon feed which is derived from a Fischer-Tropsch process is provided. The process comprises: subjecting a hydrocarbon feed which is derived from a Fischer-Tropsch process to a catalytic dewaxing treatment to obtain an at least partially isomerised product; separating at least part of the at least partially isomerised product into one or more light hydrocarbon fractions and one or more heavy base oil fractions; separating at least one of the heavy base oil fractions by means of a first membrane into a first permeate and a first retentate; separating at least part of the first permeate by means of a second membrane into a second permeate and a second retentate; and recovering the second permeate.

A new catalyst hydroisomerizes C18 paraffins from fatty acids to a high degree to produce a composition with acceptable freeze point which retains 18 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule for jet fuel. We have discovered a fuel composition comprising at least 14 wt % hydrocarbon molecules having at least 18 carbon atoms and a freeze point not higher than −40° C. The composition also may exhibit a exhibiting a final boiling point of no more than 300° C. The hydroisomerization process can be once through or a portion of the product diesel stream may be selectively hydrocracked or recycled to hydroisomerization to obtain a fuel composition that meets jet fuel specifications.

Hazy-free at 0° C heavy base oil and a process for producing

A process for producing a base oil composition from a deasphalted oil (DAO) feed, where the DAO feed undergoes hydrotreating, hydrocracking, catalytically dewaxing, hydrofinishing, and fractionating to generate the base oil composition. The base oil composition includes a hazy-free at 0° C. heavy base oil comprising (a) a kinetic viscosity ranging from 15 to 21 cSt at 100° C., (b) a 5 viscosity index of at least 95, (c) a pour point of less than −12° C., (d) a cloud point of less than −18° C., and (e) a total aromatics content of 2 wt % or less, where the hazy-free at 0° C. heavy base oil maintains a hazy-free appearance when stored undisturbed at 0° C. during a test period.
