THERMALLY INTEGRATED PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF LIQUID FUELS WITH A SOLID OXIDE ELECTROLYZER

Production of fuels from low carbon electricity and from carbon dioxide by the use of a solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) and Fischer-Tropsch is shown. Fischer-Tropsch is an exothermic reaction that can be used to produce steam. Steam produced from the Liquid Fuel Production (LFP) reactor system, where the Fischer-Tropsch reaction occurs, is used as feed to the SOEC. The higher temperature steam improves the efficiency of the overall electrolysis system. The integration of the LFP steam improves the efficiency of the electrolysis because the heat of vaporization for the liquid water does not have to be supplied by the electrolyzer.

A renewable hydrocarbon composition as disclosed includes monobranched isoparaffins, dibranched isoparaffins, tribranched isoparaffins multibranched isoparaffins, and n-paraffins, having carbon numbers from C8 to C30. Said renewable hydrocarbon composition has high cetane number and excellent cold properties. The renewable hydrocarbon composition can be used as diesel fuel or as a diesel fuel component.

CLEAN LIQUID FUELS HYDROGEN CARRIER PROCESSES

The present disclosure refers in one embodiment to processes for making and transporting clean hydrogen fuel. The processes may involve hydrotreating, hydrocracking, or both hydrotreating and hydrocracking an aromatic feedstock under conditions to obtain a liquid hydrocarbon fuel. The liquid hydrocarbon fuel is hydrogenated to obtain a hydrogen-rich fuel that is transported to a dehydrogenation facility that may also be at or near a hydrogen station. The hydrogen-rich fuel is used to obtain hydrogen and a second liquid hydrocarbon fuel.

A method of desulfurizing a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon feedstock includes introducing the sulfur-containing hydrocarbon feedstock within a reactor in the presence of a gas atmosphere and a catalyst structure, where the catalyst structure comprises a zeolite porous support structure including gallium (Ga) and molybdenum (Mo) loaded in the zeolite porous support structure. The gas atmosphere can include methane. At least 50% of sulfur content can be removed from the feedstock as a result of the desulfurizing method.

Lipid-Assisted Conversion

A method for converting a bio-oil derived from lignocellulosic biomass to a fuel or fuel blendstock. The method may include contacting the bio-oil with a lipid or lipid derivative to form an organic phase comprising phenolic compounds and an aqueous phase. The organic phase is separated from the aqueous phase and subjected to hydrogenation and deoxygenation in a hydroprocessing reactor to produce a hydrocarbon product, a gas product, and water. The hydroprocessing reactor hydrocarbon product is fractionated into fuel products comprising gasoline and kerosene/diesel.

High napthenic content distillate fuel compositions

Distillate boiling range and/or diesel boiling range compositions are provided that are formed from crude oils with unexpected combinations of high naphthenes to aromatics weight and/or volume ratio and a low sulfur content. This unexpected combination of properties is characteristic of crude oils that can be fractionated to form distillate/diesel boiling range compositions that can be used as fuels/fuel blending products with reduced or minimized processing. The resulting distillate boiling range fractions and/or diesel boiling range fractions can have an unexpected combination of a high naphthenes to aromatics weight and/or volume ratio, a low but substantial aromatics content, and a low sulfur content. By reducing, minimizing, or avoiding the amount of hydroprocessing needed to meet fuel and/or fuel blending product specifications, the fractions derived from the high naphthenes to aromatics ratio and low sulfur crudes can provide fuels and/or fuel blending products having a reduced or minimized carbon intensity.
