PROCESS AND A SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING SYNTHESIS GAS
The present disclosure relates to a process and a system for producing synthesis gas. The carbonaceous feedstock is gasified, in the presence of at least one of oxygen and steam, in a first reactor to obtain a gaseous mixture comprising H2, CO, CH4, CO2, H2O, tar and char. The gaseous mixture is treated in a second, reactor, in the presence of a catalyst, to obtain synthesis gas. The system comprises a first reactor, a connecting conduit, a second reactor, at least one cyclone separator, at least one heat exchanger and at least one synthesis gas filter unit. The process and the system of the present disclosure are capable of producing synthesis gas with comparatively higher conversion of the unreacted char.
PROCESS FOR CO-GASIFICATION OF TWO OR MORE CARBONACEOUS FEEDSTOCKS AND APPARATUS THEREOF
The present invention relates to a process for co-gasification of two or more carbonaceous feedstock, said process comprising combusting a first carbonaceous feedstock having high calorific value with low ash and high hydrogen content, to produce a heated effluent; carrying the heated effluent to second reactor where the heated effluent reacts with a second carbonaceous feedstock, having low calorific value with high ash and low hydrogen content, to produce synthesis gas.The present invention also relates to an apparatus for co-gasification of two or more carbonaceous feedstock, comprising a first reactor (3), having a first feedstock inlet port (1), a oxygen or air inlet port (2), a steam inlet port (9), a ash removal port (7), and a solid recycle port (6); a first cyclone separator (5) connected to the first reactor (3) through a first cyclone separator inlet port (4); a second reactor (16), having a second feedstock inlet port (10), and a ash removal port (15), the second reactor is connected to the first cyclone separator (5) through a gaseous inlet port (8); and a second cyclone separator (12), having a fine particles removal port (13), and an effluent port (14), wherein the second cyclone separator is connected to the second reactor through a second cyclone separator inlet port (11).
FLUIDIZED COKING WITH INCREASED PRODUCTION OF LIQUIDS
Systems and methods are provided for integrating a fluidized coking process, optionally a coke gasification process, and processes for production of additional liquid products from the coking and/or gasification process. In some aspects, the integrated processes can allow for conversion of olefins generated during a fluidized coking process to form additional liquid products. Additionally or alternately, in some aspects the integrated processes can allow for separation of syngas from the flue gas/fuel gas generated by a gasifier integrated with a fluidized coking process. This syngas can then be used to form methanol, which can then be converted in a methanol conversion process to form heavier products. In such aspects, olefins generated during the fluidized coking process can be added to the methanol conversion process to improve the yield. Additionally, in various aspects, the off-gas from the integrated conversion process can be used as an additional paraffin feed that can be recycled to one of the heat integration conduits in the fluidized coker for additional generation of olefins. This can provide a further increase in liquid yields using a carbon source (C.sub.4 paraffins) that is conventionally viewed as a low value product from coking.
GASIFICATION WITH ENRICHED OXYGEN FOR PRODUCTION OF SYNTHESIS GAS
Systems and methods are provided for producing high quality synthesis gas from a fluidized coking system that includes an integrated gasifier. Additionally or alternately, systems and methods are provided for integrating a fluidized coking process, a coke gasification process, and processes for production of compounds from the synthesis gas generated during the coke gasification. The integrated process can also allow for reduced or minimized production of inorganic nitrogen compounds by using oxygen from an air separation unit as the oxygen source for gasification. Although the amount of nitrogen introduced as a diluent into the gasification will be reduced, minimized, or eliminated, the integrated process can also allow for gasification of coke while reducing, minimizing, or eliminating production of slag or other glass-like substances in the gasifier. Examples of compounds that can be produced from the synthesis gas include, but are not limited to, methanol, ammonia, and urea.
FLUIDIZED BED COKING WITH FUEL GAS PRODUCTION
A Flexicoking unit which retains the capability of converting heavy oil feeds to lower boiling liquid hydrocarbon products while making a fuel gas from rejected coke to provide only a minimal coke yield. The heater section of the conventional three section unit (reactor, heater, gasifier) is eliminated and all or a portion of the cold coke from the reactor is passed directly to the gasifier which is modified by the installation of separators to remove coke particles from the product gas which is taken out of the gasifier for ultization. In one embodiment, a portion of cold coke is transferred directly from the reactor to the gasifier, and another portion of cold coke is combined with hot, partly gasified coke particles transferred directly from the gasifier to the reactor. The hot coke from the gasifier is passed directly to the coking zone of the reactor to supply heat to support the endothermic cracking reactions and supply seed nuclei for the formation of coke in the reactor. Coke is withdrawn from the gasifier to remove excess coke and to purge the system of metals and ash.
Activation of waste metal oxide as an oxygen carrier for chemical looping combustion applications
A process for producing black powder oxygen carriers for use in a chemical looping combustion unit includes the steps of: (a) removing and collecting the black powder waste material that was formed in a gas pipeline; (b) pre-treating the collected black powder to adjust its spherical shape to avoid attrition and fines production; and (c) activating the black powder to increase its reactivity rate and produce the black powder oxygen carrier that is suitable for use in the chemical looping combustion process as an oxygen carrier.
TWO-STAGE GASIFIER AND GASIFICATION PROCESS WITH FEEDSTOCK FLEXIBILITY
A two-stage gasification reactor may include a reactor lower section and a reactor upper section. The reactor lower section may include (a) a lower reactor body, (b) two primary feed nozzles, configured to introduce at least one of a dry feedstock or a first slurried feedstock and located on opposing terminal ends of the lower reactor body, and (c) at least two secondary feed nozzles, configured to introduce a liquid hydrocarbon feedstock, located on the lower reactor body. The reactor upper section may include (a) an upper reactor body, (b) at least one upper feed nozzle, configured to introduce at least one of a dry feedstock or a first slurried feedstock, located on the upper reactor body, and (c) an outlet.
OPTIMIZING CARBON MONOXIDE PRODUCTION FROMHETEROGENEOUS FEEDSTOCK
It is provided a process for increasing production of carbon monoxide (CO) and recycling carbon dioxide when treating synthesis gas using a carbon dioxide-to-carbon monoxide conversion unit, such as a Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS) reactor, converting excess CO.sub.2 from the produced syngas to additional CO, using an external source of green, renewable or low carbon intensity hydrogen.
Methods and system for decreasing gas emissions from landfills
A method of diverting municipal solid waste (MSW) from a landfill that includes receiving, at a MSW processing system, a quantity of MSW, gasifying the quantity of MSW in a gasification unit to yield a syngas stream and biochar stream, converting at least a portion of the syngas to mixed alcohols in an alcohol synthesis unit, separating the mixed alcohols into one or more alcohol products, and determining a carbon offset for diverting the MSW from the landfill to the MSW processing system.
Process for catalytic gasification of carbonaceous feedstock
An improved process for the catalytic gasification of a carbonaceous feedstock in a dual fluidized bed reactor for producing synthesis gas is disclosed. The disclosure uses ?-alumina as a catalyst support i and heat carrier in the gasification zone (102). The gasification zone (102) is operated at 700-750? C. to prevent substantial conversion of ?-alumina to ?-alumina, which would manifest in the enablement of high catalyst loading and high recyclability. The catalyst is an alkali metal, preferably K.sub.2CO.sub.3, so that conversion proportional to total K.sub.2CO.sub.3 to solid carbon ratio is achieved with as high K.sub.2CO.sub.3 loading as 50 wt % on the solid support. The combustion zone (140) is operated at 800?-840? C., to prevent any conversion of the ?-alumina to ?-alumina, so that catalyst recyclability of up to 98% is achieved between two successive cycles.
