Process and relating apparatus to make pure hydrogen from a syngas originated from wastes gasification

A process and apparatus for producing pure hydrogen from a syngas generated by the high temperature gasification of municipal, agricultural or industrial derived wastes. The process is able to make pure hydrogen to be further reacted with nitrogen to make ammonia and urea.

Two-stage syngas production with separate char and product gas inputs into the second stage

A two-stage syngas production method to produce a final product gas from a carbonaceous material includes producing a first product gas in a first reactor, separating char from the first product gas to produce separated char and char-depleted product gas, and separately reacting the separated char and the char-depleted product gas with an oxygen-containing gas in a second reactor to produce a final product gas. The separated char is introduced into the second reactor above the char-depleted product gas. The solids separation device may include serially connected cyclones, and the separated char may be entrained in a motive fluid in an eductor to produce a char and motive fluid mixture prior to being transferred to the second reactor. A biorefinery method produces a purified product from the final product gas.

The present invention relates to a gas scrubbing process and a plant for removing carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) from synthesis gas, wherein the synthesis gas includes at least hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O), The invention features a dedicated circuit for water removal which comprises a scrubbing apparatus for removal of water by means of the physical absorption medium used in the gas scrubbing process. The absorption medium supplied to the scrubbing apparatus is withdrawn from a thermal separation apparatus for separation of water and absorption medium. The circuit is arranged such that water entrained via synthesis gas to be purified cannot pass into the main absorption medium circuit which is formed inter alia by an absorption apparatus and a regeneration apparatus. The energy cost and the apparatus complexity especially in respect of the thermal separation apparatus is thus reduced.

Co-processing of waste plastic with biomass

Systems and methods are provided for co-processing of plastic waste with biomass to generate gas phase product streams with improved properties. The systems and methods can include having a high temperature swing adsorption process integrated with a pyrolysis process, gasification process, or other thermal conversion process, so that CO.sub.2 can be removed from at least a portion of the effluent. This can facilitate capture of CO.sub.2 when using pyrolysis, gasification, or other thermal conversion to generate a hydrogen-containing stream. Additionally, the integrated system and/or method can allow for production of multiple product streams having desirable ratios of hydrogen to carbon oxides.

PROCESS

A process for the manufacture of one or more useful products comprises: gasifying a carbonaceous feedstock comprising waste materials and/or biomass in a gasification zone to generate a raw synthesis gas; supplying at least a portion of the raw synthesis gas to a clean-up zone to remove contaminants and provide a clean synthesis gas; supplying the clean synthesis gas to a first further reaction train to generate at least one first useful product and a tailgas; and diverting selectively on demand a portion of at least one of the carbonaceous feedstock, the clean synthesis gas, the tailgas and the light gas fraction to heat or power generation within the process, in response to external factors to control the carbon intensity of the overall process and enable GHG emission savings.

The present invention relates to a process for removing carbon dioxide from a synthesis gas having at least hydrogen and carbon dioxide in which the synthesis gas is at least partially freed of carbon dioxide in an absorption apparatus by physical absorption at elevated absorption pressure. The carbon dioxide is subsequently desorbed by pressure reduction relative to the absorption pressure in a plurality of serially arranged flash stages and an at least partially regenerated absorption medium is withdrawn from the last of the plurality of serially arranged flash stages, recompressed to absorption pressure and recycled into the absorption apparatus for use as absorption medium. It is also provided according to the invention that a partially regenerated absorption medium from a flash stage upstream of the last of the plurality of serially arranged flash stages is recompressed to absorption pressure and recycled into the absorption apparatus for use as absorption medium.
