The lubricating oil composition contains an amide compound (A) having a specific structure, a metal-based detergent (B), and at least one phosphorus acid ester (C) selected from an acid phosphate ester and an acid phosphite ester; and the lubrication method and the transmission use the lubricating oil composition.

Provided is a lubricating oil composition for engine equipped with a forced-induction mechanism capable of lowering the frequency of occurrence of LSPI, while using a calcium-based detergent. The lubricating oil composition for engine equipped with a forced-induction mechanism contains a base oil (A), a metal-containing surfactant (B) containing at least a calcium-containing surfactant (b1), and at least one basic compound (C) selected from a metal carbonate, a metal hydroxide, and an amine-based compound, wherein the content of sulfur contained in the metal-containing surfactant (B) is 0.2 mass % or more on the basis of the whole amount of the metal-containing surfactant (B); the content of a calcium atom is 0.08 to 0.20 mass % on the basis of the whole amount of the composition; and a mass ratio of the content of the basic compound (C) and the content of a calcium atom derived from the calcium-containing surfactant (b1) [(content of (C))/(calcium content derived from (b1))] is 2.0 or more.

Provided is a lubricating oil composition for engine equipped with a forced-induction mechanism capable of lowering the frequency of occurrence of LSPI, while using a calcium-based detergent. The lubricating oil composition for engine equipped with a forced-induction mechanism contains a base oil (A), a metal-containing surfactant (B) containing at least a calcium-containing surfactant (b1), and at least one basic compound (C) selected from a metal carbonate, a metal hydroxide, and an amine-based compound, wherein the content of sulfur contained in the metal-containing surfactant (B) is 0.2 mass % or more on the basis of the whole amount of the metal-containing surfactant (B); the content of a calcium atom is 0.08 to 0.20 mass % on the basis of the whole amount of the composition; and a mass ratio of the content of the basic compound (C) and the content of a calcium atom derived from the calcium-containing surfactant (b1) [(content of (C))/(calcium content derived from (b1))] is 2.0 or more.
Soot dispersant
The present invention is directed to a use of a lubricant in a diesel engine to disperse soot produced by the diesel engine, the soot being dispersed without adversely affecting the viscosity of the lubricant; the lubricant comprising a major amount of oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount of a dispersant comprising (i) one or more olefin, (ii) one or more carboxylic acid, (iii) one or more polyetheramines and (iv) one or more aromatic amines along with co-additives.

EXTREME PRESSURE METAL SULFONATE GREASE
An overbased metal detergent grease comprising at least one of polyalkylene glycol and/or an acid having at least one of both a nitrogen and a sulfur atom. The grease has improved extreme pressure performance as measured by the Standard Test Method for Measurement of Extreme-Pressure Properties of Lubricating Grease (Four-Ball Method), ASTM D2596.
Methods of making an overbased metal detergent grease comprising using at least one of polyalkylene glycol and/or an acid having at least one of both a nitrogen and a sulfur atom. Methods of lubricating mechanical components using the grease comprising contacting the mechanical component with the grease. Mechanical components can include gears, drivetrain elements, bearings, hinges, or combinations thereof.
EXTREME PRESSURE METAL SULFONATE GREASE
An overbased metal detergent grease comprising at least one of polyalkylene glycol and/or an acid having at least one of both a nitrogen and a sulfur atom. The grease has improved extreme pressure performance as measured by the Standard Test Method for Measurement of Extreme-Pressure Properties of Lubricating Grease (Four-Ball Method), ASTM D2596.

Lubricating oil compositions with engine wear protection
A method for improving wear control of a steel surface lubricated with a lubricating oil through the generation of thick tribofilms. The method includes: (i) using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil, the formulated oil having a composition comprising at least one lubricating oil base stock as a major component; and at least one lubricating oil additive, as a minor component; and (ii) forming a tribofilm on the steel surface. In time-step tribofilm formation measurements of the lubricating oil by a mini-traction machine (MTM) at constant slide-to-roll ratio (SRR), the saturation traction coefficient (f.sub.s), which correlates to tribofilm thickness on the steel surface, is greater than about 0.11. In the method of this disclosure, elongation of timing chain due to wear of chain link pins is less than about 0.07%, as determined by Ford Chain Wear (FCW) test conducted in accordance with ILSAC GF-6 specification. The lubricating oils are useful in internal combustion engines.
