The outer surface and/or the inner surface is at least partially coated with a lubricant.
Hybrid grease with low friction coefficients and high wearing protection
A hybrid grease is provided having low coefficients of friction and high wear protection which is employable over a wide temperature range. The hybrid grease includes a combination of a grease based on a silicone oil in conjunction with a grease based on synthetic hydrocarbon oils, mineral oils or polyglycols. The composition according to the present embodiment is a composition for forming a lubricant coating layer on a threaded connection for pipes or tubes, and contains Cr.sub.2O.sub.3, a metal soap, a wax and a basic metal salt of an aromatic organic acid. The threaded connection for pipes or tubes according to the present embodiment includes a pin and a box. The pin and the box each include a contact surface including a threaded portion. The threaded connection for pipes or tubes includes, as an outermost layer, a lubricant coating layer formed from the aforementioned composition on at least one of the contact surfaces of the pin and the box.
Superlubrious high temperature coatings
A low friction wear surface operable at high temperatures and high loads with a coefficient of friction in the superlubric regime including MoS.sub.2 and graphene-oxide on the wear surface is provided, and methods of producing the low friction wear surface are also provided. The low friction wear surface remains with a coefficient of friction in the superlubric regime at temperatures in between about 200° C. and 400° C.
