BREAST IMAGING APPARATUS

A breast imaging apparatus includes a radiation generation unit configured to generate radiation and a radiation detection unit configured to detect radiation irradiation from the radiation generation unit and can rotate the radiation generation unit and the radiation detection unit in a state in which they face each other. Imaging is performed in a state in which a body part (breast) of an object to be imaged is sandwiched by a pressing panel on a first side of the breast imaging apparatus. In addition, imaging is performed while rotating the radiation generation unit and the radiation detection unit in a state in which the body part (breast) of the object to be imaged is inserted between the radiation generation unit and the radiation detection unit from a second side opposite to the first side of the breast imaging apparatus.

Apparatus for digital imaging in the head region of a patient

An apparatus for Digital Imaging in the Head Region of a Patient includes an X-ray source and an X-ray sensor, supported on i a rotary arm supported on a structure by a motor driven translation and rotation means. The rotary arm is provided with adjustment means for varying the distance between the source and the sensor. The apparatus comprises a single sensor for both panoramic imaging and computed tomography, and has a control unit, that controls the source, the sensor, the adjustment means, and the translation and rotation means and operates the apparatus in a basic operation mode for bigger patients and in an alternative operation mode for smaller patients, in which the distance between the source and the sensor is reduced as compared to the distance used for the basic operation mode.

An information processing apparatus acquires a request for re-imaging or a request for additional imaging. The request for re-imaging is information for requesting imaging for acquiring a second medical image as re-imaging for a previously acquired first medical image. The request for additional imaging is information for requesting imaging for additionally acquiring a third medical image. The information processing apparatus attaches, to the second medical image, information for identifying the first medical image as information for identifying the second medical image when the request for re-imaging is acquired and attaches, to the third medical image, information for identifying the third medical image when the request for additional imaging is acquired.

A composition information obtaining unit calculates a mammary gland/fat ratio and a first information obtaining unit obtains imaged contrast information representing a contrast of the radiation image. A second information obtaining unit sets target application condition of X-ray, and obtains target contrast information representing an intended contrast for the radiation image based on the intended application condition. A contrast correction amount determination unit determines a contrast correction amount based on the imaged contrast information and the target contrast information. An image processing unit performs image processing, including gradation processing based on the determined contrast correction amount, on the radiation image, and obtains a processed radiation image.

A flexible electronic pathway, such as a flat flexible cable or flexible circuit, includes a cut-out within the pathway to provide strain relief by balancing the stress over the termination area. The flexible electronic pathway allows relative movement between a first end and a second end in all three translation, all three rotation directions, and combinations thereof. The strain relief can provide for a controlled mechanical resistance to reduce the risk of damage and failure.

Medical device navigation system

A system for navigating a medical device is provided. In one embodiment, a magnetic field generator assembly generates a magnetic field. Position sensors on the medical device, on an imaging system and on the body generate signals indicative of the positions within the magnetic field. The generator assembly and reference sensors are arranged such that a correlation exists between them and the positions of the body and of a radiation emitter and a radiation detector of the imaging system. An electronic control unit (ECU) determines, responsive to signals generated by the sensors, a position of the medical device, a position of one of the radiation emitter and detector and a distance between the emitter and detector. Using this information, the ECU can, for example, register images from the imaging system in a coordinate system and superimpose an image of the device on the image from the imaging system.

Aligning source-grating-to-phase-grating distance for multiple order phase tuning in differential phase contrast imaging

An X-ray imaging method includes acquiring a differential phase contrast imaging X-ray scan with an X-ray imaging system having an X-ray source, an X-ray detector, and a grating arrangement having a source grating, a phase grating and an analyzer grating. The source grating is misaligned in respect to an interferometer such that moiré fringes are detectable in the plane of the detector. A translation signal is computed for translating the source grating for achieving a predetermined moiré pattern. The positioning of the source grating is adjusted in an X-ray projection direction based on the translation signal such that at least 2 pi of phase changes are covered with the Moiré fringes over the width of the detector. And a further differential phase contrast imaging X-ray scan is acquired.
