The method includes automatically labeling the follicle in the first 2D image slice presented at the display and in any other of the parallel 2D image slices depicting the follicle that is subsequently presented at the display.

The segmentation may include applying a mask to the 3D data. The mask may be generated by sorting data points in the 3D data set into a first set or a second set. In some examples, the 3D data may be filtered prior to generating the mask. In some examples, the mask may be adjusted based on feature recognition. The preprocessing may allow the visualization of hypoechoic regions of interest in a volume.

A method for automatic identification of a measurement item is provided. The method comprises acquiring, via an image acquisition module, gray values of pixels of a specified section image corresponding to ultrasonic echoes generated by reflection of ultrasound waves by a tissue under examination; identifying, via an identification module, at least one measurement item corresponding to the specified section image based on the gray values of the pixels; and measuring, via a measuring module, a measurement item parameter of the specified section image based on the measurement item identified. Because the measurement item of a specified section image can be automatically identified based on the content thereof, the user does not need to move a trackball to select measurement items, and therefore efficiency is increased.

A method of fetal ultrasound monitoring includes detecting contact of a first ultrasound transducer to a mother's abdomen based on input from a contact sensor in the first ultrasound transducer. A first transducer ID is received from the first ultrasound transducer, and then the first transducer ID is correlated with a first transducer label. A first heart rate is measured based on output of an ultrasound device in the first ultrasound transducer, and a heart rate indicator is displayed accordingly. A position of the first ultrasound transducer is identified in a two-dimensional plane, and the first transducer label is displayed on an abdomen image based on the first position.
