The present invention relates to a lubricant composition containing: a base oil (A); at least one kind of calcium-based detergent (B) selected from (B1) calcium sulfonate having a base number of 5.00 mgKOH/g or more and 100 mgKOH/g or less, (B2) calcium salicylate having a branched acyclic hydrocarbon group, and (B3) overbased calcium phenate having a branched acyclic hydrocarbon group; and at least one kind of ashless detergent (C) selected from (C1) a hindered amine compound having one piperidine-derived backbone in a molecule, and (C2) a specific diethanolamine compound. In the lubricant composition, the calcium atom content is 100 ppm by mass or more and 600 ppm by mass or less with respect to the total mass of the lubricant composition, and the ratio (N.sub.C/Ca.sub.B) of the nitrogen atom content (N.sub.C) of the ashless detergent (C) to the calcium atom content (Ca.sub.B) of the calcium-based detergent (B) is 1.3 to 3.1 as a mass ratio.

LUBRICATING COMPOSITION CONTAINING AN OXYALKYLATED HYDROCARBYL PHENOL

The invention provides lubricating composition comprising: an oil of lubricating viscosity, and an oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol, wherein the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol is substituted with at least one aliphatic hydrocarbyl group of 40 to 96 carbon atoms, and wherein the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol is substantially free of aromatic hydrocarbyl groups. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition. The invention further relates to the use of the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol in the lubricating composition to a passenger car internal combustion engine at least one of (i) control of fuel economy, (ii) control of corrosion, (iii) cleanliness, and (iv) control of bore wear.

POLYMERS AS ADDITIVES FOR FUELS

A method minimizes power loss in a direct injection diesel engine by adding a copolymer to a diesel fuel composition. The copolymer contains, in a copolymerized form, (A) maleic anhydride, (B) an α-olefin having from 12 to 30 carbon atoms, (C) optionally an additional aliphatic or cycloaliphatic olefin which has at least 4 carbon atoms and is different from monomer (B), and (D) optionally an additional copolymerizable monomer other than monomers (A), (B) and (C). Monomer (D) can be a vinyl ester, a vinyl ether, a (meth)acrylic ester of an alcohol having at least 5 carbon atoms, an allyl alcohol or an ester thereof, a N-vinyl compound, an ethylenically unsaturated aromatic, an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile, a (meth)acrylamide, or an allylamine. Anhydride functionalities present in the copolymer are partly reacted with at least one compound (E) comprising an alcohol group and/or an amino group, and the anhydride functionalities present are hydrolyzed.

Composition containing heterocyclic compounds and a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) a compound selected from the group consisting of: (i) an ester-containing heterocycle; (ii) an amide-containing heterocycle; and (iii) a pyrimidine, wherein the ester-containing heterocycle and the amide-containing heterocycle have a hydrocarbyl group containing 6 to 40 carbon atoms. The invention further provides for a method of supplying an internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition.

The method contains adding a copolymer to a fuel composition, wherein the copolymer contains, in a copolymerized form: (A) an ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid or a derivative thereof, (B) an -olefin having from 12 to 30 carbon atoms, (C) optionally an additional aliphatic or cycloaliphatic olefin which has at least 4 carbon atoms and is different from monomer (B) and (D) optionally an additional copolymerizable monomers other than monomers (A), (B) and (C), anhydride or carboxylic acid functionalities present in the copolymer are partly reacted with at least one compound (E) comprising an alcohol group and/or an amino group, and the anhydride functionalities present in the copolymer are hydrolysed and/or carboxylic ester functionalities present in the copolymer are partly hydrolyzed.
