Perfume compositions having controlled spatio-temporal olfactory profiles are described. The disclosure also relates also to a method of measuring said spatial-temporal olfactory profiles of said compositions.

The present invention relates to a composition comprising a) at least one oil phase, b) at least one aqueous phase, c) at-least one emulsifier, wherein the at-least one emulsifier is any or combination of at-least one emulsifier agent, water with emulsification properties, oil with emulsification properties, and active ingredient with emulsification properties; and d) optionally, one or more biologically active ingredients. A freshening composition of this invention may comprise (i) from about 0.1 wt % to about 95 wt % perfume raw materials, (ii) from about 0.01 wt % to about 90 wt % fragrance release modulator, and (iii) from about 1.0 wt % to about 95 wt % solvents, diluents or a mixture thereof. Disclosed are passive and active air or surface freshening products comprising a freshening composition of the present invention that allow controlled and customized release of the freshening composition to the atmosphere, air, or onto surfaces. The addition of a fragrance release modulator to formulate a freshening composition of the present invention allows the modulation of the release of the freshening composition.

A perfume composition having controlled release of phytoncides in an atmosphere in order to generate an air condition resembling the air environment of a forest is provided. The perfume composition includes a) at least about 0.6% by weight of at least one phytoncide; and b) a perfume mixture including (i) at least one solvent; and (ii) at least one fragrance ingredient. At least about 25% by weight of the at least one phytoncide is selected from the group consisting of pinene alpha, pinene beta and combinations thereof.
