This invention relates to a process for preparing an inverse emulsion comprising mixing an aqueous solution comprising a water-soluble (co)polymer A synthesized from at least one cationic monomer and an inverse EMI 2 emulsion comprising a water-soluble (co)polymer B synthesized from at least one cationic monomer, optionally followed by distillation. This invention also relates to the inverse emulsion thus obtained, a detergent or cosmetic or softening composition comprising such an inverse emulsion, as well as the use of such an inverse emulsion to improve the softening properties of a fabric softening composition.

The invention relates to a novel sulfobetaine monomer and to a process for the preparation thereof, advantageously by reaction between a vinyl-amine compound and a vinyl-sulfonic acid compound, preferably in the presence of a solubilizing agent. The invention also relates to the (co)polymers obtained from this novel type of sulfobetaine monomer, and to the use thereof, for example as a flocculant, dispersing agent, thickening agent, absorbent agent or friction-reducing agent.

Stable and clear liquid laundry detergent compositions having a DADMAC Acrylic Acid co-polymer, a surfactant system including alcohol ethoxysulfate anionic surfactant (AES) and at least one of a linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid anionic surfactant (LAS) and a non-ionic surfactant (NI), and an aqueous carrier. In one embodiment, the aqueous composition includes water in an amount of 30% to 80% by weight, a surfactant system in an amount of 8% to 35% by weight, and DADMAC Acrylic Acid co-polymer. The surfactant system may include: (1) at least about 40 wt % alcohol ethoxylsulfate (AES), and (2) a linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) and/or a non-ionic surfactant. The liquid compositions have a turbidity less than 50 NTUs.
