REDUCTION OF SURFACE TENSION, INTERFACIAL TENSION, AND CRITICAL MI CELLE CONCENTRATION USING A PROTEIN-BASED SURF ACT ANT SYNERGIST

Surfactant-containing compositions are described which include a protein component that has the effect of improving the surface-active properties of the surfactants contained in the compositions. The surfactant-containing compositions having the protein component demonstrate significantly lower critical micelle concentrations (CMC), reduced surface tensions, and reduced interfacial tensions than do comparable compositions having no protein component. In addition, the surfactant-containing compositions having the protein component has the effect of converting greasy waste contaminants to surface active materials.

FAST-ACTING BIOCIDAL CLEANSING COMPOSITION

Disclosed is cleansing composition comprising: (i) a surfactant; and, (ii) a complex of an oligodynamic metal with a chemoattractant, wherein zeta potential of the complex is from +30 mV to 30 mV and wherein said complex is not in nanoparticulate form; and wherein the chemoattractant is a protein. Also disclosed is a method of sanitising an animate or inanimate substrate by reducing viable count of bacteria residing thereon by at least 2-log, comprising the steps of: (i) applying to the substrate a composition as disclosed or an aqueous suspension thereof; (ii) allowing said composition or the suspension to remain in contact with said substrate for a contact time of up to 60 seconds; and, (iii) rinsing the composition or the suspension with water, or wiping it with a wipe.

A lubricant for firearms includes a base and nanoparticles dispersed throughout the base. The base may include a hydrocarbon or a mixture of hydrocarbons. The base may be in a liquid form or in a semisolid form. Fat from an animal source, such as porcine fat or, more specifically, bacon fat, may be employed as a hydrocarbon of the base. Fat from an animal source may be rendered or otherwise clarified. The nanoparticles may include nanospheres, which may have an average diameter of about 100 nm or less. The lubricant may also include a hydrocarbon from a vegetable source (e.g., a vegetable oil, etc.), a hydrocarbon from a petrochemical source, and/or a synthetic petrochemical lubricant. The lubricant may include a fragrance to impart it with a desired scent (e.g., a bacon scent, etc.). Methods for lubricating and cleaning metallic surfaces of firearms are also disclosed. In such a method, nanoparticles from a lubricant may be introduced into and retained within microscopic crevices in the metallic surfaces.
