Disclosed is an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus. The ultrasound diagnostic apparatus includes a holder implemented to hold a probe; an object sensor for detecting physical changes around the holder; an electromagnetic wave sensor for detecting electromagnetic waves around the holder; and a controller for determining a port name for a probe held in the holder, based on sensing values from the object sensor and electromagnetic wave sensor.

Portable expansion unit for operating a medical device, and method for operating a medical device

A portable expansion unit controls safety-relevant functions of a medical device. The expansion unit has a retaining device to be adjusted to the size of a flat, portable operating unit of the medical device. The retaining device mechanically connects the expansion unit detachably with the portable operating unit. A communication module establishes a safety-related data connection with the medical device. This combines a mobile, portable consumer operating device, such as a tablet computer or smartphone, which does not fulfill any particular safety-related requirements, with an expansion unit, which permits the control of safety-relevant functions with the aid of a safety-related radio protocol.

Wireless biological monitoring

A patient monitoring system includes: a biomedical sensor including: a transducer configured to produce a signal corresponding to a biological function; a sensor converter configured to convert the signal to a converted signal; and a transmitter configured to produce a communication, based on the converted signal, that is indicative of one or more values of the biological function, and to send the communication wirelessly; and a base station including: a receiver configured to receive the communication wirelessly and to produce a receiver output signal; a base station interface configured to produce a base station output signal indicative of the one or more values of the biological function; and at least one output port to receive the base station output signal and configured to be hard-wire connected to a display that is configured to display information indicative of the biological function.

Ultrasound imaging systems including transducer probes having wireless tags, and associated systems and methods, are described herein. For example, the wireless tags can store supplemental data about the transducer probes, and the ultrasound system can include a base unit configured to wirelessly communicate with nearby ones of the wireless tags to receive the supplemental data. The base unit can be further configured to display the transducer probes that are nearby. In some embodiments, the operator can filter or sort the displayed nearby transducer probes based on the supplemental data to identify a particular one of the nearby transducer devices that has one or more desired attributes.

Systems for a water collection assembly for an imaging cable

Various methods and systems are provided for a water collection feature of an imaging probe assembly. In one example, a medical imaging probe assembly includes an electrical connector, an imaging probe, and an electrical cable including a first end connected to the electrical connector and a second end coupled to the imaging probe, the cable including a water collection feature arranged at an outer surface of the cable, proximate to the first end. The water collection feature may have converging edges extending outward from the cable, toward the first end, shaped to draw water droplets away from the cable.

Thermal shunt for transferring heat from a portable medical device to a stand
10863973 · 2020-12-15 · ·

A portable medical device, such as an ultrasound imaging system, is configured to connect to a stand, and transfer heat from the device to the stand. The device includes a heat-generating source, a hot plate that is thermally coupled to the heat-generating source, and a barrier plate that is biased away from the hot plate and moveable between a first position, wherein the device is not docked to the stand, and a second position, wherein the device is docked to the stand. In the first position, the barrier plate is not in thermally conductive contact with the hot plate, and in the second position, the barrier plate is in thermally conductive contact with the hot plate. When moved from the first position to the second position, a cold plate on the stand pushes the barrier plate into the second position such that heat generated by the imaging system is transferred through the barrier plate to the hot plate and into a cold plate of the stand. As such, in the second position, the device is configured to transfer heat from the imaging system to the stand via a conductive pathway including at least the hot plate, the barrier plate, and the cold plate.
