CMUT probe, system and method
Disclosed is an ultrasound probe that includes an array of CMUT (capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducer) cells. Each cell includes a substrate carrying a first electrode of an electrode arrangement. The substrate is spatially separated from a flexible membrane by a gap. The flexible membrane includes a second electrode of the electrode arrangement. The ultrasound probe also includes an acoustic window over the array of CMUT cells. The ultrasound probe further includes a data storage element accessible to an external control module of the ultrasound probe. The data storage element stores configuration information for configuring an operation of the array of CMUT cells in pre-collapse or collapse mode with the external control module to optimize the effective bandwidth of the array. Also disclosed is a calibration method of the ultrasound probe, an ultrasound system and a method of operating the ultrasound system.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SECURING OPERATION OF AN ULTRASOUND SCANNER
The present embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for securing operation of an ultrasound scanner for use with a multi-use electronic display device. In some embodiments, the multi-use electronic display device can control whether the ultrasound scanner is permitted to generate ultrasound image data for display based on an institution affiliation status of the ultrasound scanner retrieved from a server. In some embodiments, the multi-use electronic display device can control whether the ultrasound scanner is permitted to generate ultrasound image data for display based on whether a digital certificate provided by a server is successfully validated.
SYSTEM FOR MONITORING A USE OF A MEDICAL DEVICE
The invention provides a system for determining an identification characteristic of a medical device carrying at least an ultrasound emitter/sensor element. The identification characteristic is based on a detection signal from the ultrasound emitter/sensor element upon a drive signal. The system can identify the medical device from a database of known medical devices. Furthermore, the system can update the duration and frequency of use of the medical device and it can prohibit further use of the medical device (when a predetermined limit of use is exceeded.
Wireless probe, ultrasound diagnostic apparatus, and method of controlling wireless probe and ultrasound diagnostic apparatus
Disclosed herein are a wireless probe, an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus, and a method of controlling the wireless probe and the ultrasound diagnostic apparatus. The wireless probe may include a power supply unit that supplies power to the wireless probe, and a controller that controls configuration information of the wireless probe to be backed up or restored based on a change in an operational state of the wireless probe.
CONNECTORS FOR ULTRASOUND IMAGING SYSTEM
Ultrasound imaging systems are provided. An ultrasound system according to some embodiments includes a console configured to selectively communicate with a first ultrasound imaging device and a second ultrasound imaging device. The console includes a housing, a computing device disposed within the housing, and a connector receptacle assembly coupled to the housing. The connector receptacle assembly includes a first connector bank including a first plurality of electrical connections; and a second connector bank including a second plurality of electrical connections. The connector receptacle assembly is selectively matable to a first connector of the first ultrasound imaging device via only the first connector bank and to a second connector of the second ultrasound imaging device via the first and second connector banks.
Ultrasound imaging system including wireless probe tracking
Ultrasound imaging systems including transducer probes having wireless tags, and associated systems and methods, are described herein. For example, the wireless tags can store supplemental data about the transducer probes, and the ultrasound system can include a base unit configured to wirelessly communicate with nearby ones of the wireless tags to receive the supplemental data. The base unit can be further configured to display the transducer probes that are nearby. In some embodiments, the operator can filter or sort the displayed nearby transducer probes based on the supplemental data to identify a particular one of the nearby transducer devices that has one or more desired attributes.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FUSING THREE DIMENSIONAL IMAGE DATA FROM A PLURALITY OF DIFFERENT IMAGING SYSTEMS FOR USE IN DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
A multi-modality cancer screening and diagnosis system is provided that allows cancer screening and diagnosis of a patient using at least two different and sequential three-dimensional imaging techniques without patient repositioning. The system includes a first three-dimensional image acquisition device, a second three-dimensional image acquisition device having a probe with a transmitter mounted thereon, and a positioning paddle for positioning and immobilizing an object to be imaged during the cancer screening and diagnosis procedure. The positioning paddle is designed to facilitate visualization of the breast in both three-dimensional modalities without movement of the patient, and preferably is designed to position the patient with comfort during a diagnosis procedure which uses both imaging modalities.
Apparatus and methods for detection of a removable cap on an ultrasound probe
An ultrasound imaging device including the ability to determine when a component, such as a removable probe cap, is attached to a portion of an ultrasound probe. Such a cap is employed in one embodiment to act as a spacer component to provide a standoff for the probe head. Detection of probe cap attachment to the ultrasound probe enables the resultant ultrasound image to be adjusted automatically by the ultrasound imaging system. In one embodiment, an ultrasound imaging system comprises an ultrasound probe, a cap or other component that is attachable to the probe, and a component attachment detection system for detecting attachment of the component to the probe. Once the cap is detected, an aspect of an ultrasound image produced by the imaging system is modified, such as cropping the image to remove undesired portions of the cap, such as the spacer component.
ULTRASOUND IMAGING DEVICE OPERATED BY MOBILE DISPLAY DEVICE AND ULTRASOUND IMAGING SYSTEM
The present invention relates to an ultrasound imaging system comprising an ultrasound image acquisition station and a mobile display device. When disconnected from the ultrasound image acquisition station, the mobile display device may be operated by its own operating system providing general purpose applications to a user. When connected to the ultrasound image acquisition station, the hardware of the mobile display device is operated by an ultrasound application dedicated operating system stored on the ultrasound image acquisition station. By this, a low weight and flexible to use ultrasound imaging system may be provided.
